Hakone - full of evangelions apparently...

I abuse my journal...I really shouldn't... So its update time.

Summer has now officially ended, and I've still not updated about what I did.

At the start of Summer, Rin and I finally got to travel together! Because hes just started work as a teacher he hardly gets any time off and I never really see him. But we had 3 days off together! So we headed over to Hakone, which is over near Tokyo, or rather was but isn't so much.

First off was to Owakudani. Which is a gigantic hill with hot springs that smell like eggs and pretty much make you ill if your there for a long time.

Mmmm smelly steam.

Guess who is Asthmatic? Why yes...me! It was really really hard to breathe.

This water is really really hot.

The extremely famous part of Owakudani is the eggs....

These eggs are boiled in the water and turn black. If you eat one your life expectancy is extended. I don't actually like eggs but I thought a few extra years would be nice.

mmm yummy eggs. Also Naruto stuff everywhere there...

Next it was off to have a mini adventure on a pirate ship. It was a very one piece adventure.

The boat trip was so long though...so after a while we were sick of it.

Next up, Hakone shrine! woot woot. Possibly my favourite part of the trip as there was a gigantic gate that you could look at.

I was very calming and just astounding.

Later on there was fireworks, but the place was so crowded that we couldn't stop and watch.  It was the first time that I saw fireworks released from the water. The reflections were amazing.

The boats were decked out for the event too.

There was a nice gate too.

The next day we headed to Yunesun. Yunesun is an onsen (hot spring) theme park. At the theme park we were able to dip in Coffee flavour onsens. Sake, green tea, wine, ice cream (gari gari kun icecream), charcoal, and a sea salt onsen. It was awesome. However there were so many kids around that it was tough to enter the ice cream onsen. Very awesome theme park.

Hakone was very quaint but there was onsen areas after onsen areas after onsen areas. The roads were small too so when Rin was driving I was kind of scared! But we were ok. One thing however is that there was so much evangelion stuff!

In one of the conbini stores there was stickers and goods everywhere.

The manga section of this conbini only stalked evangelion. Apparently Hakone is Tokyo 3, which is in Evangelion (I haven't ever watched Evangelion, just the movie...so I have no idea.).

Last up, on the way home we went to Fuji Q highland. Its a massive amusement park with one of the tallest and longest rollar coaster in the world. Fujiyama.

However...Rin doesn't like Rollarcoasters. He thinks hes going to die and that we shouldn't go on them.

The lines were really long however so we didn't go on many of them. 2 hours for a ride! I don't think so.

First off it was to an hour long haunted house.

After an hour wait, we walked through the corridors of this hospital... there was dead bodies, scary people jumping out at you and grabbing you. creepy hallways. Everything.. it was awesome. Because you walked around it, it was all at your own pace and it was more personal. We had a small pen light to light. Rin was terrifed. So much so that he ended up running from a scary guy screaming. Pretty funny. Would love to go again.

Oh yeah!

Some of the attractions were beautiful. I just wish that I could have went on them all! But we didn't have time for that.

We did however go on a giant gundam game thing. You had to scan the correct manuals to get through to the next stage and to get the gundam to move. However the manuals were all over the gundam and you had to run run run to get them. Noone actually got through to the next stage. :( Next time for sure!

Fujiyama was hilarious. It was super long, super high and Rin was screaming so hard that I hurt my sides laughing. I am a really bad girlfriend. But it was pay back for making me go on the gundam ride. It was amazing.

Fuji Q highland. I will conquor you again! Maybe without Rin next time as he doesn't like the rollarcoasters.

hakone, holidays, fuji q highland, japan, rollarcoasters
