At the end of July, we set off on a mini adventure... This mini adventure was to Rock in Japan a music festival that not many people actually know about. But I do! However, as Rin is still a student, we always aim to go the cheapest way possible when we travel. So in good student style, we decided to go to Tokyo by 18kippu and spend roughly £12 instead of £60 on travel.. This means that it took us 8 hours to get to Tokyo by normal train...
Thankfully I had a DS and an mp3 player...
We headed off in the morning with out Lunch packs and funky tasting kit kat...
Ume Soda Flavour Kit kat.... disgusting... (Fizzy plum juice flavour...)
The left is Sausage and Mayonaise flavour sandwich (with Monster Engine comedy duo cartoon) and The Right is Caramel Chocolate and Whip with Hanya picture.
Both 2 of my favourite Comedy Duo's in Japan. I <3 these Comedians. Random funny ensues...
Lunchpack on the train. Yum. (Sandwiches here dont have crusts...in case you were wondering).
After many many hours...we got to Odaiba in search of the legendary Gundam!!
Odaiba from the train..but no Gundam yet!
Odaiba...for sure...is one of my favourite places in Tokyo.
Beautiful.
Where else would you get Pollar Bear Eco campaigns but in Odaiba!
And Shonen Jump Windows. (I still wish it was a one piece or dragon ball window).
We walked onto the set of a tv show..... with these 3 fat dance/singers..... it was amuzing to see fat people dancing for tv.
Random dresses
Just a simple walk around in odaiba...
Very scary fat dancers...
We were just watching the show when Rin turned round and said hey look, that looks like Haruna Ai....
Of which is was!! Haruna Ai is actually a Nu half.. shes was a dude...shes not now ;) Shes very popular on tv and on comedy shows. Shes absolutly stunning in real life!
Her bodyguards weren't letting anyone take photos but we got this sneaky one in ;)
Then finally...we got to the Gundam...which was huge and very impressive!
Walking up to the gundam...
Because it was Thursday night there werent many people around! So we got alot of good views of it.
Gundam!!!!
Pretty huge! It also lit up...moved it head and shot out sprays of steam! It was awesome!
Close up.
Gundam Crotch! (Rin took this picture.....)
You could also walk under it and touch it.
Trying to lift gundam foot.
Of course I had to try too.
Before putting my head in a gundam bolt section.
The jet packs were pretty cool too!
The Gundam site was pretty cool with unfortunatly sold out gundam goods... there was alot of limited edition suff on sale...but obviously the fans got in there first. I just wish the Gundam would be left there...but unfortunatly its being taken down at the end of this month. I wonder what they will do with it.
Afterwards we went to the Fuji Tv building but...I forgot that they shut early and we didnt get to see any of the TV goods :( Shame really.
We did go and visit the Gachapin and mukku restaurant...which was cool.
I <3 Gacchapin
I think working for Fuji Tv would be my dream job... may as well try for it!
We unfortunatly didnt have time to eat at the restaurant because it was an all you can eat for 90mins... so we ate big curry katsu instead!
600 yen and very huge!
I made an impressive discovery in Odaiba actually...Next clothing store! In British sizes! It felt like home! I went slightly crazy and bought some new clothes. I was bouncing off the walls before heading to Ibaraki to find a manga cafe to stay over night it.
Me and Rin dont do travel in style...but we do do it in extreme budget situations :) Always good.
