I love this website, thinkgeek.com. They sell the coolest things!!

Recently I bought a DIY Blood Type Testing Kit from Thinkgeek's site. It came in the mail yesterday. I'm so happy, I finally know my blood type! That may sound like a strange thing to get excited over, but I have always wanted to know. From as far back as I can remember, anytime I have had to get blood drawn, I have always wondered what my blood type was. A few years ago I had to get blood drawn, and I asked the nurse if they could tell me, but she said the doctor has to order it as a test. But I have always been too nervous to ask the doctor, I feel like I would be bothering them with more extra, and unnecessary, work. So when I saw a blood type kit on Thinkgeek, I thought, finally I shall know! And know now I do! I am O Negative.

Here is what I have learned within the last day about O Negative blood:
O Negative is a rare blood type, but not the rarest. I think I read a statistic that said something like 5-10% of the population has O Negative. For donating purposes, O Negative is the only truly universal blood type. I can donate blood to everyone. O Positive is the second most universal blood type, only they can't donate blood to O Negative people. What does this mean for me? Well, while I can donate to absolutely everyone, I can only receive O Negative type blood. Interesting stuff!
