I've collected my favourite photos taken while out on my driving routes the last few weeks. There are 22 images under the cut. :)
Heading towards Glenwood / Hillspring, Chief Mountain is a prominent landmark.
Winter pasture for the horses from one of the Waterton / Glacier National Park trail ride outfits.
This shape jumped out at me in the paint on the side of a road. Guess what's been on my mind?
Lots of wind turbines along this route, sometimes standing solely, and sometimes in groups.
Golden fields, but no need for those irrigation pipes this time of year...
"We're melting, meeeeeeelting!" -Sad Snowman Family, January 2010 chinook
Silly man going ice fishing on a residential pond, LOL! What does he think he's going to catch?!
Silly man using an umbrella during a snowstorm. Must be from Vancouver.
I went a bit photo-mad with all the lovely
hoar frost (AKA, "radiation frost", apparently) we had last week. It usually melts by mid-morning, but this time it stuck around all day! From the article I just linked to, I learned of a very strange practice used to protect the vineyards in New Zealand from frost... they fly helicopters over the vineyard to drag down warm air and prevent the pooling of cold air on the ground. How that can be cost-effective, I don't know, but then again they had
shark 'copters in Perth, so who am I to judge? Apparently grapes are just as valuable as human lives... or wine is, anyway. :p
I can't get over how cute the rural school buses are. I want one! Beep beep!
AHHHHH! T-Rex on the highway!!! :D
Did I mention my Friday drives are super-boring? Like "barren wasteland for the first 2 hours with no stops" boring.
This is one of the only trees I see on my route, but it's perfect and
has so much character that it makes up for the others absence.
Deb, do you know what kind of bird this is? It looks like Magpie with a long, curved beak. ???
CLASSIC hoar frost picture, no? *proud*
Totally backed 50m up the road to get this shot, after glimpsing the red building at 100km/h!
I love the weeping willows with frost on them. :)
