The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.

72km/h wind is fine and all, Lethbridge, but 72km/h wind spitting sand/gravel/rocks at me while I'm moving 50km/h with no face shield equals welts on my face, and I don't like that very much, thank you. Please cease and desist.

I was thinking the other day that the wind here is like the bad weather days anywhere else, but instead of just going, "Oh, it's raining -- I'll get the umbrella/I guess we can't go hiking today", we try to go about our normal activities and complain, because it's always so warm out when it's windy due to the chinooks. The weather is so mild here the rest of the time, and so I think we have this expectation that when it's 15C out (or 23C as it will be tomorrow!), it should be calm... and it often is, but once in awhile the wind is the tradeoff for the warmth.

I will say this, though -- it was pretty funny to watch people walking, leaning FORWARD and still hardly making any progress. Meanwhile, I was swerving all over the road on the scooter as the wind spontaneously changed directions every few seconds. I was actually laughing because it was so ridiculous, until a rock hit me in the cheek again! That shut me up.
