Some Servers Need to KNOW How to Take a Customer's Order

Some servers today don't know how to take your order in a restaurants. Sometimes, I honestly have had better luck getting my order correct at fast food restaurants at times. It's sad, it really is.

A good example, is twice I have ordered the garden salad at Red Lobster with saying "No tomatoes and No cucumbers." BOTH times, the servers made the side ( Read more... )

"You behave as if you're the only customer that the particular server is servicing.."

You behave like they aren't working for tips. You behave like you are an uncaring person. You behave like most servers actually TRY THEIR BEST(which they don't).

"If they have ten tables and make one mistake, that's a 90% accuracy!"

That's the name of the game. You try your best not to mess up. If you do, what do you think they should do, say nothing or apologize to get a better tip? Common sense would tell you to apologize, which most don't, because they don't want their tip to go down. If they would just think about it with common sense that we already know most of the time WHO caused the issue. If we do and it's obvious, it's common sense you should apologize, but for some reason no matter how nice you are to the server, they don't, even when I say "Thank you" when they bring the forgotten item or fixed the wrong item.

"Also, how (why) do you remember orders you've made from years ago and the mistake the server made? I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday... most people are in the same boat as myself... lots going on in their lives"

Because it's that important to me, that's why. I can remember, because it hurts my feelings that most don't CARE about anyone else besides their own tip instead of caring about the customer to EARN a good tip. Most of the time, it's not mistakes, it's them not checking things over to have tried to catch the mistakes.

I may not remember what I had for lunch a few days ago, but I remember stuff that is meaningful to my heart. That IS when they piss me off because they didn't TRY or CARE about WTF they served me and usually they don't apologize either. I also remember the ones that do apologize, because it's so RARE. I remember one in 2008 that said "I'm SO SORRY" over a side of ranch being forgotten. She got 20%. WHY? Because she was so darn nice and fixed it immediately. Sure, she probably didn't verify the order, but she was NICE about it unlike most asshole servers that just don't give a shit.

Yes, restaurant service is meaningful to my heart, because if they want my money, they should CARE about WTF they serve you as far as what things that are in their control such as a side of ranch. I had recently a waitress ALL ON HER OWN brought out the ranch BEFOREHAND and another server did bring out the appetizer. So you see, she PREVENTED the problem from occurring. She CARED, she did the same for the entree. So her tip was 25%. When you show you care, you will get it back, but if you show you don't, you won't get much lovin back in the tip. I treat people the EXACT WAY they treat me.

It is meaningful to my heart because by them not checking over the food shows they don't care. If they did care, they would have checked it over. How do I know they didn't check it over? Sometimes there's like 3 -6 things wrong, so it's kind of obvious or if they don't apologize, to me, that a definite sign that they didn't.

To me, restaurant service is about CARING about WTF you hand me. Do you hand me a wrong price on my check due to you not comparing the menu prices to the check and made me? Usually that happens when we get that issue and they don't do that, so they show they don't care about your money, but then expect you to care as much about theirs? That's not fair, is it?

If they want your money, shouldn't they care if your side of ranch is there or not by possibly even bringing it out beforehand? If you feel that forgetful, you should take some preventative measures instead of be lazy. Otherwise, don't expect good money at the end, UNLESS it is a minor issue and you apologize over it. What I mean by minor is a side of ranch, not putting in my order wrong or forgetting to put in my order.

"the 30 seconds it takes for a server to go get your second sauce just doesn't rate on any scale of remembering or freaking out...I guess I just don't 'get it'."

Most of the time, it doesn't hardly EVER take just 30 seconds. Sometimes it's been 4-5 MINUTES waiting to eat my food. It SUCKS!!
