Summary: Maybe Rei's right: maybe making this life count is worth more than hanging on to the last one.
Prompt: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live action), Minako/Rei, past and present selves - Minako places a lot of value on her past life, but Sailor Venus hadn’t loved Sailor Mars in the past.
The first time Rei kisses her, a part of her honestly expects to feel nothing.
Even though looking at Rei, all fire and grace, makes Minako's skin tingle and her face heat. Even though she's been thinking about this for weeks, watching Rei's lips when she talks, then catching herself and turning quickly away. Even though, when their conversation falters into silence, when Rei's expression slips into something intense and nervous (she who refuses to be intimidated by anything) , Minako's heart skips a beat.
Even though she finds she is shaking when Rei leans in.
Even then, the voice at the back of her mind that she has always thought of as Venus rather than Minako tells her to expect disappointment.
She is... not disappointed. She is breathless and clumsy and far too eager, eye fluttering closed as Rei's lips touch hers, warm prickles spreading across her cheeks and down the back of her neck. Rei's hands brush over her back, fingertips exerting the slightest of pressure. Minako tugs at Rei's shirt until she moves closer, until their breasts barely brush, and that contact sparks long lines of heat all through Minako's body. Rei's hand slides up under Minako's top, lightly stroking the skin there, and Minako shivers and opens her mouth a tiny bit and nibbles on Rei's lower lip.
The soft sound Rei lets out then makes Minako feel like she's falling from a very great height, butterflies in her stomach and dizziness in her head, and she wouldn't give it up for the world.
She remembers Mars, all fire and grace, remembers no stirring in her heart when they walked beneath the unshattered moon, and for the first time since this subtle courtship started, she thinks that if Venus did not love Mars, it can only have been because she never had time to learn.
