Grey weekend

Last night was Courtney's birthday night at The Tube. But of course, it didnt stay there. It was Tube, Dante's, Voodoo Donuts, back to Tube, Magic Gardens, Tube, Roxy. At Magic Gardens, I sat and talked with Melanie most of the time. She has the greatest laugh i've ever heard. Very loud, shrill, and very, very frequent. Over the slow, quiet, would be sultry songs coming from the jukebox, Melanie laughed and laughed and laughed. We got more than a few stares. Its funny: naked girating girls five feet away, and people would rather stare at someone laughing loudly. I hadnt been to the Roxy in years and i just needed some hash browns before bed. The greatest thing about living downtown is late nights when you dont have to worry about getting home. You can keep telling yourself, "im only five minutes from my apartment". Then it gets to be 3 am. I feel fine today though. I'm experimenting with this new idea of not rushing back to the bar every time i finish a drink. Its pretty novel... downtime between drinks.

I listened to the new Legenday Pink Dots album last night. Its... a Dots album. Not bad, but certainly nothing I cant find on, literally, 40 other albums i have by them. Sometimes I cant decide if thier minimal stuff is just lazy. Edward singing about an "Island of Dreams" borders on self- parody. I remember being so rabid for them for several years and now i kinda shrug them off. Maybe its band burn out, maybe its working for them... I dunno.

Not much going on this weekend. Rabbits is playing at the Towne Lounge. Next weekend is "Aliens" on the big screen. Oh god. I've always wanted to see that in the theatre.
