In looking for some artists tonight, I came across a blogger
http://anaba.blogspot.com/ --who mentioned another blogger--Mike Erickson-- who reconstructs albums via
youtube videos, keeping each album's original song order, but all the songs are covers.
http://www.vidlogdecovbum.blogspot.com/ The most recent entry is a reconstruction of the InXS album,
Kick, which I skipped, because I sorta got sick of them the first time around. That group was played a lot during my first years in college, c. 1985. I'd actually probably like them OK if I listened to them now.
I guess I was mixed up for a sec. Oingo Boingo was the one I came to hate-- particularly the song
"Dead Man's Party"...but I still liked and like the Pet Shop Boys, Please (1986) and
Actually (1987), esp. the song they do with Dusty Springfield-- "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"--I even like the covers of some of the PSB songs Liza Minelli later did. So go figure...
The next most recent entry at
http://www.vidlogdecovbum.blogspot.com/ was Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I skipped to a cover version of "War on War," which is a song I really like. It was cute--a band playing in a basement, kinda seeming to lose time a little sometimes but sounding OK, and little kids running in front of the camera occasionally.
Can I just say that Arianna Huffington is a tall, golden Greek goddess? I heard her on
Democracy Now today. What a vocab!
Here, she's really golden:
Arianna is golden by
ZDNet's Andrew Keen -- It takes a golden woman to get me out of bed at 5.00 am. And Arianna Huffington is golden, very golden. I caught the 6.30 shuttle this morning down to Burbank, to catch the golden girl live -- speaking at On Hollywood. She didn't disappoint. Dressed in a gold top, the golden haired Arianna glowed this morning in Hollywood.
