two came out this week that Donghae and Siwon will be living in Taiwan for four (4) months to film a drama called "Extravagant Challenge". It's good that Super Junior continues to develop their talents outside of the music industry. However, my initial reaction was my concern on how they're going to record and rehearse for the 5th album.
Most, if not all, ELFs know that Leeteuk and Heechul are supposed to enlist in the army soon, either end of this year or early 2012 and Leeteuk did say in SS3 Manila (and in other SS3 concerts) to watch out for the 5th album. So with this announcement that Siwon and Donghae will be living in Taiwan, it will be much harder to work on the 5th album when they are going to be living in a separate country. Korea and Taiwan aren't very far from each other but it's still far compared to living in the same dorm or the same city and being able to go to the studio everyday. They can also do some of the recordings in Taiwan but that would also depend on the music producers, writers, coaches, managers available to them. Another option would be to have the remaining members travel to Taiwan for recordings and rehearsals, if their schedules allow it. The remaining four, Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong and Heechul, have daily radio shows but that hasn't really stopped them from travelling before.
There are some rumors going around and some implications from tweets of SJ staff* that the SJ-M subgroup will be living in Taiwan as a whole and not just Donghae and Siwon. Eunhyuk leaving Sukira could also be an indication that he knew beforehand that they were going to live in Taiwan. I guess that's a little better than just two of them and it would be easier to do SJ-M promotions that way -- traveling together, rehearsals, etc. Plus EunHae will be together!! Haha. Sorry I just had to put it in.
Then again, I can't help but feel sad for the four who will be left behind. I just hope that they won't feel so lonely in the dorms and will use the time to further improve themselves also -- maybe Leeteuk can continue learning how to play the guitar and they can write songs and compose.
If the four months starts in April, that means they will be in Taiwan until July. The only SJ activities that I'm aware of now is the SS3 concert in Vietnam on May 7 and the KRY concert in Thailand on June 25. If it takes them about a month to two months to record the album and rehearse, that means the 5jib release will be sometime in end Sept to early Oct. That seems so far off into the future.
On a positive note, I hope that SJ-M will really be successful in China and Taiwan. I think that "Perfection/Too Perfect" is a really good song and the rest of the songs on the mini-album are good too. Living in Taiwan will definitely improve their Taiwanese/Mandarin-speaking skills.
Regardless of what the living arrangements will be, I just hope that they will be successful and that they will produce a really good 5th album!!!
