A long December, and there's reason to believe, that maybe this year will be better than the last.

Dec 21, 2009 00:44

Sorry about the lack of updates. Basically, I've almost been consumed by Shanna's upcoming divorce, her upcoming major surgery on Tuesday and Christmas. Seriously. The drama on that end is going to drive me insane. Dan's very pissed about it all. He's totally done with just everything...I think we need some time away.

So, instead of, you know, doing the reasonable thing and try to finish the original MEME I had stolen from Elyse who stole from someone else, and catch up, I decided to steal a MEME from Sarah's blog.

Year In Review Meme:

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

I said no! I left a job that was making me vomit 3 times a day and to the point where all I did was poop and throw up. I think that was a total win.

I also bought a brand new car! While Bea Arthur is not quite Lazarus, it's still spiffy, and shiny!

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I've basically stopped making them because I get lazy (IE: 30 day meme) and stop them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Dan's friend Melanie gave birth.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

I didn't know her; in fact, other than ultra sounds, I never saw her little face. My almost niece, Peanut died, when Shanna went into labour way too soon at the beginning of the year.

5. What countries did you visit?

Canada! 2009 Canadian Pilgrimage, where I was felt up by the assistant youth minister of the other parish and got drunk with priests.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

A wedding ring.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 18, 2009. It was the day I bought my first brand new car. And I remember being at the dealership and receiving a phone call from my mother that Matt was in the hospital...and that began it all.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Leaving a job I hated.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Still living home.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Anything bad?

I had bursitis at the very beginning of the year very bad in my left shoulder. I was in a sling for about a week and was high as a kite on muscle relaxers.

11. What were the best things you bought?
Probably my super duper car!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

I would say, my nephew, who stopped biting the little children at day care.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Mostly Shaf's.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Oh geez...my new car, clothes, Canada 2009, my upcoming wedding, new contacts and glasses.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

My wedding. :)

16. What song/s will always remind you of 2009?

I'll think of one...Hmm..

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? I would say about the same. Maybe a little more depressed because of Shanna, not having a full time job, and so many people around me being sick and miserable. I'm not like...cutting sad though. Which is fantastic!
ii. Thinner or fatter? Thinner by like 3 pounds.
iii. Richer or poorer? Much much poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Probably would have worked a lot less and said "No" more. I know I lost a ton of time when working at Gilda's Club because I basically got guilted into doing everything.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Working at Gilda's Club.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Not exactly sure just yet. I will have to wait and see in the next few days.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?

I fell in love all over again with my future husband.

22. How many one-night stands?

0.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Scrubs. Hands down, i think I watched more Scrubs than I did sleep.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I think I hate the people I have not been able to stand pretty equally from last year. I've always hated Shaf, always not really cared for my mother...so pretty even.

26. What was the best book you read?

Breaking Dawn, on the bus ride to Saint Ann's Be Deupre.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Lady Gaga. I totally hate myself for that one.

28. What did you want and get?

A new car.

29. What did you want and not get?

Originally, Dan and I planned our wedding date to be December 19, 2009....I think based on the epic snow, this was a pretty good plan we didn't do that now.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 24. Matt came home from a 19 day stint in the hospital and 2 surgeries. I went out to eat and hung out my house.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

I think having a little more money would be okay but even then..I think it's okay.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Classic beauty. Clean lines, clean colours, saturated colours, more natural fibers.

34. What kept you sane?

My fiance. This was probably one of the worst years in a while; my mother has become intolerable at times, work was horrible, Matt almost died, Shanna was sick, and transitioning from full time to several party time gigs....I don't think I'd be here without him.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ryan Renolds. Seriously. That man is hot.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Nothing really. I'm so luke warm to politics at this point.

37. Who did you miss?

I really missed my grandma. I really miss her as I have started planning my wedding. While Ryan has really filled the void that my grandparents left when they passed away, I would have loved her to meet Lucy, to be able to have her around to talk about my wedding, to introduce her to Dan and to talk to her once again. She's been gone for almost 8 years now, and she is still someone I miss very, very dearly.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

I met a couple new youth group kids who have a very fresh outlook on life and on God. It's refreshing to see kids so dedicated to their faith.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009

Don't take the little things for granted. Because you may not have them tomorrow.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year

While I used this for my subject, it fits very well...

"It's been a long December, and there's reason to believe, that maybe this year will be better than the last..."

Looking Ahead: 2010

The honeymoon is going to be Iceland (okay...think of it this way....we've been together for 7 years and NO SEX. I do not want to go anywhere that is all that interesting, because I will be engrossed in other activities at that point...Plus, i want to go somewhere where I can at least cuddle with him. Also, i fear ocean monsters.) Canada is the annual pilgrimage with the youth group and the handicapped people where I go and be a chaperon.

21. Do you expect 2010 to be a good year for you?
