So this is the new year.

Jan 02, 2006 21:12

2005 is hereby cordially invited to fuck off. It wasn't hideous but…meh. Other than a few instances, it was a huge waste of time.

I declare 2006 the Year of Cat. What that means exactly, we shall see. I have a feeling. The times, they are a-changing.

I’m being lazy. I usually do this on the first. At any rate, the annual "Big Fat End-of-the-Year Survey". Woo.

1* What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Worked at a truckstop.

2* Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I resolved some time ago to stop making New Year's resolutions. It's the only one I’ve ever kept.

3* Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4* Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5* What countries did you visit?
None. Lame.

6* What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A liiiiiiife.

7* What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
September 26th, 2005. On the floor. My boys. The Tacoma Show. It was seriously the only thing that kept ’05 from being a complete waste of time. And if that was the only thing worth going through the entire year for, I’d do it all over again.

8* What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a decent damn job after three years.

9* What was your biggest failure?
Still being here.

10* Did you suffer illness or injury?
Several minor injuries. Nothing major.

11* What was the best thing you bought?
My ticket to the Tacoma show.

12* Whose behavior merited celebration?
Those who helped victims of the year’s natural disasters in any way they could, famous and non-famous alike. Special Mention going to fucking ANDERSON COOPER. The only one who actually, you know...REPORTED THE NEWS. Without sensationalism. With genuine desire to help those people. I never watch TV news, but I think I've finally found a newscaster I can get on board with.

A real newscaster. I still love all my fake ones.

13* Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
El Presidente. Iraq, Katrina, the numerous vacations, the dumbass. I can’t believe we’re saddled with this idiot for another two years.

Oh, and Sean Penn. Fucking pissant.

14* Where did most of your money go?
Money? What is this "money" you speak of...?

15* What did you get really, really, really excited about?
See #11. Oh my yes. And AND! Stephen Colbert getting his own show! Which is the most badass show on television right now. I just. I love Colby so hard.

16* What song will always remind you of 2005?
"E-Pro", Beck
"My Doorbell", The White Stripes
"Little Sister", Queens of the Stone Age

17* Compared to this time last year, are you
i* happier or sadder?: Neither. Stuff sucks, but it’s not hopeless.
ii* thinner or fatter?: Thinner.
iii* richer or poorer?: A bit more broke. But with a new job, thankfully.

18* What do you wish you'd done more of?
Lots of stuff.

19* What do you wish you'd done less of?
Even more stuff.

20* How will you be spending Christmas?
Already spent it as I spend every Christmas, dodging irritating family members and spiking my eggnog.

22* Did you fall in love in 2005?
Pff. Not even close.

24* What was your favorite TV program?
Smallville: It’s Lametastic!

25* Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope. I’m back behind a cash register and have discovered that I still hate moron customers, though. If that counts.

26* What was the best book you read?
Rotten by John Lydon.

27* What was your greatest musical discovery?
It wasn’t a discovery, but I witnessed yet another regeneration of my boys. And this one...holy buckets. I’m so proud of them. I knew they could do this. Love. LOVE.

28* What did you want and get?
A reason to live.

29* What did you want and not get?
Out of this goddamned town.

30* What was your favorite film of this year?
Uh. I honestly don’t know. I don’t know if I watched much of anything that was released this year.

31* What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
23 years old, and I went shopping and out to dinner.

32* What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having the money to fucking MOVE.

33* How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Whatever I want to wear, I wear.

34* What kept you sane?
My boys. And fake newscasters. Maybe even a real one, too.

35* Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

36* What political issue stirred you the most?
I believe I mentioned the dumbass in the Oval Office. Ugh. Just…get out. OUT.

37* Who did you miss?
Not a damn person.

38* Who was the best new person you met?
NINA.

40* Quote a song lyric that sums up your attitude toward the new year:

I’ve been waiting a lifetime
For this moment to come
I’m destined for anything at all…

- Green Day, "Waiting"
