Steven Spielberg

I've just thought of another film director that I think would be able to direct the Harry Potter films much better than the other directors thta have already been used. I think that David Yates was the best so far, but i think that Steven Spielberg would be better.

Oh god, I thought Yates was the worst so far. Newell was the best in my book- but I agree, it would be interesting to see what Spielberg would do.

Don't you guys know? Spielberg was the first director who was contacted to direct the HP movies, even before Chris Columbus.

The reason why he walked out was because he wanted his own Harry Potter and wanted Haley Joel Osment to play Harry. Among other things.

Yeah, yeah what you said. I don't think he walked out, but JK said she didn't want that kid playing Harry so they parted ways.

...

THANK GOD FOR JK!
I think I'd rather die than have an American play Harry... (no offense :) )

Well in the books Harry is English, so it makes sense :-)

I think Yates showed his roots in TV. Many of his shots were straight out of his TV movies.

I think Cuaron has been the best director so far. He fulfilled the world JKR created, and he wasn't dull about it. Nothing prefunctionary in his direction! I'd like to see him return for DH or, if he can't, Guillermo del Toro. The Mexican directors seem to have cultural insight into (or feeling for) death that past directors haven't been able to grasp.

for the win, ie Cuaron was the best choice and would be the best choice for the films yet to come.

I liked Yates, and I think Newell was the best so far.

As for Spielberg . . . no. Please no. He's about I think if he did DH it would just come out . . . shtick-y.

No! Stephen Spielberg directed that 'War of the Worlds', or whatever it was, did he not? And that was the biggest load of rubbish I've ever seen!

Yates has been the best so far - followed closely by Mike Newell. As for Cuaron, he totally ruined the third book for me. :(
