Moving Day of the Daleks

Sep 27, 2008 00:57

I left the house about 13 hours ago for Hockmans, a few minor errands, and the Prawnfam moveday. Well, first day of the weekend, at any rate. There was some time spent sitting, or waiting, or filming, or eating. But most of the time, I'd say at least 10 hours, was fairly regular lifting and carrying of boxes and furniture.

It's funny how much easier it is to do strenuous manual labor from midday to midnight than it is to accomplish certain mental feats, like establishing good habits or breaking bad ones.

The dogs enjoyed a brief check-in this morning, and I owe them another one before I hit the sack. I also feel particularly unclean and in need of washing, but I sort of don't want to spend the energy on it. But I think I will anyway. Some food might also be in order, and some sort of moisture. I did not eat anything (besides a very small amount of chocolate) until about 8pm today. This is the part where Rosemary and Jolene get after me for not taking care of myself. Well, I work better when I haven't eaten recently. granted, I also work well when I actually have energy, but I don't think I really lost anything from the lack of breakfast. I ate so much yesterday, I'm sure that it balances out in some way. No, the real issue is hydration, and I think that's an area in which I have done poorly today. I drank no water, but some soda. Also some juice, which I believe is better than soda.

The moving itself is proceeding well. When I arrived, the place didn't seem to look quite ready to move. But I realized that the clutter that was there was fairly ordered, and mostly on top of boxes and boxes. Thus, by the end of the day, there was actually quite a lot gone, and I have no doubt that by the end of this weekend, there shall be very little left to do in terms of moving things. Course, there's lots of unpacking and organizing, and cleaning the old house, but that's not all meant to be completely done in the next 48 hours. The important thing is to get the most use out of the moving truck, which we have for about 48 hours more. But altogether, I think that today was fairly successful as a moving day, and I was generally pleased with how various people in the family handled things. Of course not all things ran smoothly at all times, but focus was not lost, and forward motion was maintained.

My headache, if I read it correctly, tells me that I need more hydration and more sleep.

In other news, I think that once I am borrowing a mattress (next few days), and once the internet is up and running, I will begin the process of working out the bugs of the needs of everyday life in the apartment. The hope is that by the time my fam arrives, I'll have things under control. I expect no major difficulties.

Dogs, drink, shower, sleep. No. Dogs, drink, sleep. Shower tomorrow. Gross, yes. But fatigue there is.
