Goodness gracious.

I continue to marvel at your wondrous, perfect depictions of this relationship. This possessed a more internalized perspective than your previous effort, and thus the intensity of the situation also jumped up quite a few notches. There was so much to evaluate here, but somehow, through the lute, you wrapped it all up with just the right touch. While it's a nice homage to TOS, it's also evident how inherent the object still is to their current, somewhat flawed connection. Truly a beautiful conclusion to it all.

Moreover, it's absolutely chilling how I could literally feel everything Uhura herself envisioned within each sentence (Um, in the most tame way, mind you).

or not.

ANYWAY.

Instead he had drawn two fingers so delicately-so weightlessly that she had wondered if he would ever make contact-over her skin, tracing her lines as if he were exploring a star chart, connecting each droplet of sweat that had formed from her initial apprehension.

♥I find myself very partial to this line (Her body is a starchart ; ( ... )

You make me happy in ways that should not be healthy and probably aren't. D: Eeee, dammit. <3

I REALLY wanted to pay homage to the lute-playing in TOS; and I am DEAD SET on wanting a lute scene of SOME kind in the next movie, even though I'm not likely to get it. So I'm really glad that translated over well; I wasn't sure it was going to. But guh. Relief. *collapses*.

And that liiiiiine. It was one of those kneejerk lines that came to me at random, but I love it so. XD And yay for nostalgia!

ilu. <3

:D The feeling is mutual!

And oh boy, now I want a lute scene as well (Just imagining ZQ playing it is already making me go ohhhh man) :( Look at what you did!

I also just listened to the song you linked to (Fail on my part since I probably should've done that previous to reading the fic), and it's so freaking pleasant. Now the tone of the ending makes even more sense :)

Not another line-that-came-to-me-in-the-shower? XD

I think there are like...three lines in there that came to me in the shower, but that wasn't one of them. XD I crack myself up when I write though, cuz I'll get those lines and type them down and then when I start writing the fic, I'm like okay...interject THIS line THERE...*completely revolves her fics around her shower lines* >_>;

And I just love that song. <3 I have been listening to it for the past two days.

Thank you! Yes, the singing. I had to have him do it, the idea of him singing with her/to her/in general just makes me goo at the knees. Unf. <3 Glad you liked it darling. =D

I saw you icon and a smile spread across my face -I loved your last story, I’m glad you wrote another one.

Most of the fics I read approach their intimacy in a conventional way -and while I enjoy those stories I never thought they worked like that. I loved reading your take on it and my heart broke a little for Uhura, even if her understanding and acceptance of him (which you did so well, by the way) is one of the many reasons I love her and their relationship. I also liked that, even when asking him to let go, she wasn't pushing and when he couldn’t it still didn’t feel like she was settling

The scene with the lute was just perfect -it may be the late hour getting to me but I read it as another, and in many ways deeper, way for them to be intimate and open with one another. They sang, I “awed” it was wonderful~

And there’s a baby! I would love to read your take on them as a family

I am so touched that you enjoyed the last story, and this one. I completely agree with you--while I adore reading all the other stories that treat them a little more conventionally, I didn't feel like that was how they worked canonically. Even this was difficult for me to write, especially for the reason you mentioned--Uhura has such a trying task in understanding and accepting him, but she takes it on even when she isn't sure she's able to. That dynamic is so interesting to me, and I wanted to show that even if they do stay together, they're still going to be working on it for a loooong time.

And the baby wasn't in the original plan but as soon as I started writing, it creeped into my head and latched onto my brain and wouldn't let go. XD Sooo maybe a family fic for later SHOULD be in order. I dunno, we'll see. ;) Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, it means a lot. <3

i came back to re-read this because it was so good, and in my mems like your last one, and this. this:

his own canvas onto which to paint a myriad of whatever he desired

uhm, depending on whether or not you were alluding to the zachary's take on this relationship with this quote i may or may not have "aha'd!" to myself with a giant grin on my face. if you weren't, it happened anyway

You are so amazing. <3

You know I actually didn't even realize I'd written it that way until after the fact, and I was rereading and what Zach said in the interviews clicked for me too. It was an AHA moment even for me! So I guess it was both a little accidental AND intentional.

It makes my heart happy that you like it enough to reread it. <3333
