Has any one read the novel version of the film? I admit I liked the first novel it was a great read and it explained so many things about some scenes in the first film for instance why uhura was on the transporter pad ,although in the film it just felt as if she went there to kiss spock. the novel actually stated that she was actually helping him

"Zoe did an interview, in which she talks about how she had to fight JJ and the others for what Spuhura there was....that she explained that their relationship needed to be "dealt with." That has be questioning what they planned to do with it....were they just going to not address their relationship at all? And, if not, was it because their relationship was so committed and established? Or was it because in their minds, it fizzled out, and they just didn't want to show it?"
Really? I never saw that interview. Was it a recent one? I try to catch all the cast interviews I can but I'm sure I missed plenty.
Honestly sometimes I have the hardest time staying positive with this couple lol. Somedays its all sunshine and daisies and lalala I have no fear for them, and others days I feel its like "Damnit! Well it was nice while it lasted." Meh.
I watch Trek for the entire crew and all they entail, I always will, but I like the little extra I get from S/U and if the day ever comes when they break up I'll be pretty sad :(
Judging by some intetviews I have seen, and by the way they are having the films go, it sorta wouldn't surprise me if somewhere along the line the writers are planning to end it. I just...idk, I have this gut feeling that that is where the road will lead :( :(
Unless Zoe can keep fighting for more scenes!! *fingers crossed*

If you see the clip of Zach and Zoe on the Jonathan Ross show, their chemistry is incredibly obvious.

I LOVE how the cast gets along so well. Like they are really family. The guys go to hooters together and Zoe and Alice were so cute in that photo where Zoe gave her a big hug. Chris and Zack are great friends even outside of filming, which shows in their onscreen relationship as well.
It's too bad we didn't get any interviews with Anton Yelchin :( he's such a cutie and I know he's busy but I still would have liked to see him even a little bit..

I have read parts of the new book and it's alright. I dunno, I feel bad b/c I only get invested if I get S/U stuff. Is that awful?

OMG not at all lol. It's not awful for you to only get invested in the S/U stuff! It makes you happy and what you love! I can be the same way. I am a big Doctor Who fan and Ten and Rose was/is my OTP (see icon lol) and even though its been forever since they've been together I still ship it like burning. It was my reason for watching.
It could be a challenge for you in the future to carry on trekking if they do break up, but even if that ever happens you still have the beautiful relationship they had and an amazing history. No matter what happens whey will always be different now because of this relationship. Really though, I think the biggest thing in the reboot was Uhura being more of a leading character now, so she will still be her badass self with more screentime and I'm sure there would be plenty of S/U intereaction, just minus the kisses maybe? If that makes you feel better...probably not lol but I wouldn't worry too much. I think those two will be ok!!
As for myself I really, really enjoy S/U and think they are a cute couple, but should that dark day come that they break up, I'll be sad and disappointed but I know I can carry on. I'm an old school TOS girl first so I'm more used to the idea of Spock being single anyways, but wow, reboot S/U was such a very nice twist. I watch for S/U, but I also watch for a million other reasons as well.
I really don't think they will break up in the comics. I would put that out of mind right now. The writers know better than that I'm sure. It's an important couple, you don't do something major like that to them in a comic book that a lot people probably don't even know exists or care about. The majority of people see the films and that's it. I can't say if they plan to, but if they break them up, it should be in a film and there must be a good reason, any other way would be incredibly disrespectful.

So aside from losing my interest for the franchise because S/U are what keeps me interested the most, I'd lose my respect and trust for the writers that actually is the worst thing and the biggest motivation to make me give up and lose my interest.
Writers that don't care about their own story, that don't have the guts to stand by what they created and they listen to what a bunch of silly fans say on sites like trekmovie are not only unprofessional but they're weak writers and consequently their story will be weak as well. Think about it, you write a novel and have this story in your mind would you change it all according to what some people say on the internet? and if you do, that is left of YOUR story? The first rule for a good writer is to not let the fans influence your writing because ultimately you can't please everyone anyway.
Many critics had already accused them of ruining this movie with too much fanservice and homages to treklore, so the problem is not just how they handle S/U. Some are questioning if they're losing track on their own story because they created an AU timeline that provides them of the chance to do what they want and introduce new stories and yet what they did? Re-tell an old thing.
Even the Kirk/Spock friendship is getting criticized because it's too forced. The Wall Street Journal for example mocked Abrams saying that the characters seems "in love" and that the bromance is taken so far that the characters are respectful caricatures of themselves.

So rest assured, if the films end S/U, S/U will never end in Fanfic. There will be a S/U alternate universe! Fanfic is all about "What If?" so there is where to look, IF it ends on-screen. THAT WOULD SUCK THOUGH
I hope they will not end S/U and I should think they'll not end it in the comics. I would hope they'd have the balls to end it in a movie!
... but if that happens, if the haters win out, I'm going to be mightily pissed off.

and my gut tells me that he would never approve a story in the comic that goes too far and changes things they have developed.
For instance, I can't see the comic writers being allowed to do anything definitive in the comics. If they're to break up it's at the discretion of the actual writers of the movie and it should be dealt on screen. Like you said most of the people don't even read the comics and while Orci considers them "sort of canon" they aren't actually canon.
I also think that if they had wanted to break them up they would have done it in this movie since they got the perfect pretext and yet they didn't. She's angry with him at the beginning but there is no way someone can think that they're not together from start to end.
In short, let's await and see how they handle the comics.

I remember him saying that all the comics are sort of canon because he approves them but they aren't canon canon because only what is showed in the movies is really canon.
He also said something about the comics being canon as long as they don't contradict them on screen lol
the thing is most of the people don't read the comics or the novels so they will never consider these things 100% canon
the difference is only the fact that with the comics getting approved by him you have the idea that they can't put anything that contradicts what is in the intent of the writers.

I will have to find that article!

Yikes. "They're canon unless they're contradicted in the movies"
I hope they don't give in to the haters. The haters are so intelligent, judging by their writing, but not very gutsy. Why hide what they really want?
