It's just the teaser trailer. There are only like... two shots of Spock total in the US trailer; three in the Japanese trailer. I think there are actually more shots of Uhura than of Spock.

The full trailer will probably show more... and might have some S/U things.

I already can't deal with the haters (you know who I'm talking about) and them gloating that S/U broke up and she ditched him for Scotty. It's gonna be five terrible months for us Spock/Uhura fans especially the ones over tumblr. The Spock/uhura bashing and shipper wars already started.

The shipper wars have been ongoing. They just flared up and yea, I also see what you're talking about on tumblr. The whole who left who for who and the end scene "making it canon." I wonder what the first 9 minutes of the film will bring from the hobbit film. I wonder if it'll give us anything.

I think it'll be a nice stand-alone set-piece like the opening for 2009 was.

I'm hoping it'll be full to the brim with TOS easter eggs K/S/M and big emotions and yes, I can almost guarantee S/U will be in it.

I've been stalking monitoring Orci's commentary for a long time, now.

the question is: why Uhura is crying and why Scotty is the one comforting her? Is it because she's crying over something happening to Spock?

though, I'm a bit surprised that it's a Scotty/Uhura interaction, the comics don't imply any ongoing friendship between them
call me bad but IDK it seems to me that the writers are ship baiting or something here.
will they leave us the Spock/uhura shippers totally in the dark? why they are so secret about the couple?

Yeah, and I don't like that. More and more I'm getting the feeling that these people in charge don't respect their fans, as in the people that actually loved/liked the last movie. It makes me care less and less. I honesty do not know if I even want to watch this movie. Sounds bad, right? :(

I hope that they didn't pander to the haters I always thought that they wouldn't because of what orci and JJ had said about the couple and the comics and all but Idk it might be just a tease but still.. it feels like they did it on purpose and I don't know what to expect I just now that it doesn't make me want to watch the movie
they will make us await five months to know if our couple is still together, we won't get any interaction from the trailer that can tell us and I hate that.
I'm just being negative right now. I know.

You're not alone in this. i know I'm being negative too, but I feel like I was forced here, and I don't like that either. I was really enthusiastic about this film, but when I can't get a clear sense of what I might be buying into (a continuation of the story I was interested in or some sort of U-turn diversion) then I just don't know. Maybe they stay together, but even that, I'm thinking will be some kind of disappointment, if that's even possible.

I'd be seriously pissed off if not only they break up but she suddenly gets with another guy (scotty or anyone) only because some people hated it and the writers decided to give up Spock/Uhura (because it seems that Orci and the others genuinely loved it and supported it.) I feel a bit guilty that I didn't support my ship on sites like trekmovie where the hate was so rampant... some fans really do believe that Spock/Uhura shippers don't exist and everyone hated it which is so not true but we are so quiet

If I remember correctly, the scene between Spock and Uhura in the turblolift is one of the main reasons JJ took the job directing. And ZQ and ZS both love the relationship and Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols supported it. I'd like to think the writers/producers have enough self respect to not cater to a group that spews nothing but hate.

But I also don't see the point of panicking about it based off a trailer that's only a minute long and doesn't reveal anything other than confirming Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the bad guy. I'll wait until December 17, when the full trailer comes out or until the movie is released.

I'd just ignore all the tags for Star Trek on tumblr for a while (that's what I plan on doing). That place is always hostile, no matter the fandom.

they can't be such scums and make a 360° turn, right?
