The planet is running out of time!

I'm so sick of hearing bleeding heart environmentalists and barely literate starlets spouting doom-and-gloom epithets like, we're killing the Earth and The planet is running out of time. Not because I don't agree that we have royally fucked up this big blue ball we call home or that climate change is a very serious issue; I completely agree with ( Read more... )

And a little from Joss Whedon's, too, to be fair.

Hey, what are you doing on Saturday, March 21? And do you like shrimp?

Well, it's a lunch-dinner-type thing. It's a shrimp boil, and it starts at 4:00 PM in Woodstock. Even if you're not going to stay and eat -- which would be a shame since it's gonna be yummy, but you would definitely leave smelling of the stuff -- you should stop in and say hi. It's mostly a bunch of us from back home (the New Orleans and surrounding areas) kickin' it Southern Style, but we're all con-folk, and I'm trying to invite more of the same. There's so many of us in the area now that we really should hang out more than just once or twice a year at cons.

If you're interested, give me a valid email address to sent you an evite. Even if you can't make this one, you'll be on the list to be invited to any other gatherings we may have. We tend to do a lot of cookouts and birthday gatherings, when it's not snowing, that is.

Dude you're hot when you're political;)

Happen to be making it to CoastCon by any chance? I know it's a trip for you, but I also know you got peeps in the area, like us:)

I do miss my peeps, but I can't take the time off, what with all the other things to do in the next couple of months (Frolicon, POC, etc.)

We are having a shrimp boil that weekend up here, though, for all of us transplants who miss (some parts of) home.

Have fun, man. Tell everyone I miss them.

Seriously, though, no matter how badly we fuck up the environment for ourselves, the planet is just going to keep on trucking and adjust to whatever comes along. So what if it's no longer fit for human habitation? Like the planet gives a fuck.

How arrogant of us to say such shit. People really do have no concept of just how insignificant we all are in the cosmic scheme of things.

Time is a human concept, so the planet may indeed run out of it. ;-)

Well, if you're going to look at it that way, then the planet never really had any of it to begin with, right?

Silly humans.
