Looking for a destiel fic posted circa end of s5
Hi all!
As the title suggests, I'm looking for a destiel fic that would've been posted on lj around the time season 5 ended, so around 2010 but definitely no earlier than 2009.
It should be between 5k-10k words long (max 15k) and was written as part of an exchange where gifters' usernames weren't revealed until all works were posted. It's Dean's 3rd POV set post-s5; Lucifer had been defeated, Sam was alive and whole, and Castiel had to go back to Heaven to help restore order. Before he leaves, he and Dean say goodbye and leave things open ended with an implicit promise that Castiel would come back one day, though they're not sure when. Dean and Sam move on with their lives, and buy a 3 bedroom house so there will be room for Castiel when he comes back one day. At some point, Dean starts writing a letter addressed to Castiel and has a moment of angry realization regarding toxic masculinity (though it isn't specifically mentioned), and his internal monologue says something along the lines of, "Why aren't men allowed to write 'dear' in their letters? Wasn't Cas dear to him?" Approximately a year after Castiel leaves, Dean tells Sam's new girlfriend (an OC) about him, and she angrily strides outside of the house to yell for Castiel. Castiel actually answers her call, and he and Dean reunite.
