August fic recs
There's some really good stuff coming out there this month. Here are the stories I've really enjoyed.
1: Spells, Potions, and a Wizard Boyfriend, by akintay
Jared and Jensen are both wizards, and they find themselves roommates at the California College of Magic, however, while Jared is an accomplished spellmaster, Jensen hasn't had any experience at all of wizarding, and he's finding it really hard to adjust.
2: More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, by alexadean
It's a WIP, but each part stands alone, and it's hotter than hell! So far there are three parts to the 'verse. Jensen is a young carrier in a society where humankind is dying out. Jared is genetically compatible and has been selected to breed with Jensen, whether he likes it or not. Jensen isn't anxious to let him. If there were a grade higher than NC17, I'd select it.
3: Well They Said You Was High Class, by impertinence
Jensen doesn't do one night stands, and his co-star is a slut. A very hot, snuggly, sexy slut. It's so not happening... or is it? J2, funny and hot.
4: I Could Stick Around and Get Along With You, by weekend-exile
this delightful piece of nonsense marks the return of the writer from self-imposed hiatus brought on by the threat of exams and school. It's a short J2. Jensen wants to learn to act gay, so he can audition for a part in a movie with Brad Pitt. He feels that Jared is the one who should teach him this. You will learn more about penguins than you ever needed to know. I know I certainly did.
5: The Ides of March, by krebsbach
This is a really interesting J2 AU. Jensen is the son of Donna Ackles, a prominent politician, and Jared is not really sure who he is, but he knows that he has to protect Jensen Ackles with his life if necessary. A far reaching story involving just about every actor and personality you could possibly imagine, it's spoiled a little by typos, but despite them I really enjoyed the story.
6: Misha Collins Makes a Match, by orphan_account
It's the hellatus, and Jensen and Jared go on a road trip with Mike, Tom and Misha. The trouble is, Jensen is in love with Jared, and Misha can tell. Jensen really wishes he'd leave things be, but Misha seems determined to throw them together.
7: damned, by goldenusagi
This is an AU genfic take on Season 3 of Supernatural. When Dean falls into a pit chasing a wendigo, he finds something trapped in a ring of fire. The thing offers to heal him if he lets it out, and so begins a strange friendship that takes him to hell and back.
8: Designs on You, by goddamnbatman and karabou
Funny take on Toy Story, featuring Jared as The Jared, a 12" vibrator who's soundproof, waterproof, with ten speeds, rotating beads, and an ergonomic handle. The problem is, he wants to be so much more. He wants to belong to someone, and not just anyone! J2 AU that's rated NC-17, and which is also hilarious.
