Aug 13, 2007 18:59

We're trying something just a little different for our chat post this month - we're having two! Both on the same topic, but one's spoilerfree (this one) and the other, hosted by schneestern, is as spoilery as you want to make it ( Read more... )

I hardly know where to start - I think I could list a collection of fan fic that I'd love to see become canon. And I'm among those desperate for a bodyswap episodes, for all sorts of reasons, not least imagining the glee JA and JP would have in playing each other's roles.

OK, for now, I'll stick with characters I'd like to see return. Apart from Bobby and Ellen, who I feel sure we'll see regularly, I'd most like to see Lenore and Sarah (from Provenance) again. I'd like to see Sam's reaction to meeting up with Sarah again, post Madison, see how he'd deal with it. And I'd love to see how Lenore feels about the Winchesters now, after they saved her life, and see more of Dean dealing with the idea of a monster who actually isn't a monster.

The Js would have SUCH A BLAST with a bodyswap episode, omg. Maybe it could even replace Jensen's longstanding answer of 'Dead In The Water' for which episode he enjoyed filming most! *g*

I can't understand how he's still saying that after filming Tall Tales - I really would have thought that would have been fun, even with the long hours and everything! But oh, just the thought of a bodyswap episode, and I'm in my happy place!

I, too, would love to see Sarah, at least, back again. Her and Sam's chemistry was really great, and Lenore and her whole animaltarian vampire crew would be really interesting to run into also, I think especially now that Sam knows he's not wholly human anymore.

Really, too, if Lenore+ came back into the picture, Dean's reaction to not-quite-monster them could also help Sam have a better sense of how well Dean would take the whole demon-blood thing. I mean, I couldn't tell at the end there if his motivations in not telling Dean were to protect himself or to protect Dean or ... what? You know? I think other beings living in the gray area could help highlight Sam's own struggle to figure out his place in the world.

I was all ready to comment with OMG BODYSWAP!!1 till I saw the second paragraph, ahahaha. SO um yes THAT, obviously. I am pretty much entirely unspoiled, so, hmmmm.

I'm really looking forward to the resolution of the Henrickson/FBI arc, so I'm hoping they do that well.

I also really want some more backstory - I'd love some more facts about how they grew up, so we'd know if our by-now-cliches in fic about their growing up are actually right; I'd love to know more about Sam's decision to leave and how he felt about it. (C'mon, pilot!Sam, 'Not normal! Safe!' is a lame-ass excuse, and you know it.) I'd like to know if and how the things he thought/believed/wanted that made him leave have changed.

I want a few twists on demon possession - there's a whole load of demons roaming the earth now, and black eyes/evil shenanigans will get old as a possession storyline, so I'd like to see if there could be anything interesting to do with all the demons out there.

I want Sam to drive the car more! >:O

I want mutual hugging. And more.

Yes, me too. Occasionally it's felt as though they've temporarily forgotten that the boys are wanted by the FBI, but it was furthered often enough in season 2 to make me feel confident that it's going to keep on being explored. And maybe it would be too easy, but I find myself wanting Henrickson to know what's really going on - I want the boys exonerated in his eyes.

We've had very little backstory, really, just snippets. Nothing about their teen years for example - though I suppose that would be tricky, casting-wise. I'd rather like to see podgy 12 year old Sam though! *g*

As for hugging, oh yes, seconded! Preferably while they're both alive!!

Ahaha, comments passing in the ether! Looks like we'll have to keep this discussion going ourselves for now ;)
Yeah, casting would be a problem - Jared couldn't even play Stanford-years!Sam now, he's such a huge manbeast of sex now, ahaha. But it could always be word-of-mouth backstory or they could just cast some teen boys close enough and hope we'll accept the artistic liberty. I have a feeling teen!Sam would be such a delightful little bitch. ♥

I'll get back to you on this when I stop smiling to myself about the 'huge manbeast of sex'! Hee, best Sam description ever!!

All I want is EVIL SAM! I don't care how or why, really, though I have a million ideas. I just want EVIL EVIL EVIL SAM!

If I have to share something worthwhile, though, I'll say that I'd really like Sam to become corrupted by the growth of his powers now that he's all The One special Chosen One in whom all of Hell has put their faith or something. *nods*

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I really like the idea of seeing Sam take on a protector/savior role for Dean

OMG YES. I WOULD LOVE THIS. PROTECTOR!SAMMY FTW. Especially if it involves grumpy!secretly-deliriously-happy!Dean. :D

I absolutely agree on the learning-more-about-Sam thing, because you're right. We know a lot of little things about Dean, but only the big stuff for Sam. I want to know more about him as his own person and not just as the somewhat ambiguous not-Dean character.

I actually think it's rather telling that although we know a ton about Dean's musical taste, most of what we know about Sam's is that it's not like Dean's. Even Kripke in some interview didn't really have a clue what Sam really listened to. To me, it seems strange to be so minutely detailed in the description of one character, and then leave the other one so open to interpretation. I mean, I like flexibility, like for fics and whatnot, but I'd love to see some more Sam-character-shaped structure for us to work with. *nods*

Absolutely. Last season was so focused in many ways on Dean, I want some Sammy love this season.
