Sam-Centric Very AU Recs
Title: The Day The World Went Away

Summary: Sam finds himself in a world where he doesn't exist.
Reccer's Comments: This is a parallel world AU in which Sam discovers what life would be like for the Winchesters if he didn't exist. Sam's relationships with his family in the parallel world -- especially with John -- are wonderfully drawn, and the course of their lives if the yellow-eyed demon hadn't turned up seems very realistic. Of course, even in parallel worlds, the supernatural isn't absent, and Sam discovers he was sent to this world at this particular time for a purpose. On top of that, there's an awesome appearance from Missouri, whom we don't see enough of in stories, who helps Sam get back to his own world.
Reccer's Caveats: There's some brief examination of Sam's relationship with Jess, given in this world Dean and Jess are married, but the story doesn't dwell on it.

Reccer's Comments: This marvelous tale is a re-imagining of the Winchesters story and search for John set in Europe in the Middle Ages.
Reccer's Caveats: This story not only examines the Winchester family relationships but matters of faith, organized religion and excommunication and it's possible effect on the soul.

Summary: Just because you can’t hear, doesn’t mean you can’t. Sam has always been deaf and Dean has always been a little stupid.
Reccer's Comments: I'm a sucker for sign language use in fic, and this is a solid, real, brotherly moment in a world where Sam is Deaf...and Dean gets a bit of a revelation.
