Submissions are open for
EVP 4: Lawrence Awards (slash) for one more week (closing September 3rd).
You have two weeks until submissions close for EVP 5 (10th September).
EVP 5 - Hunts & Creatures (gen): Call for submissions & contributions
EVP 5 is for stories that structured around a hunt. Investigating, hunting and slaying of ghosts, ghouls, poltergeists, demons, succubi and incubi, werewolves and hell dogs, vampires, satanists, witches, shapeshifters - you get the picture.
The story doesn't necessarily have to be about the hunt, but stories where the primary narrative is them them lounging around motel rooms, or driving around in the car, going to school or just taking a night off? are not for this edition.
Submissions close: 10th September, 2006
Submissions are open for any story that fits the theme for this edition.
If there are enough stories submitted, a supplementary fic-only edition will be also released. If there are not enough for a full hour, links to individual track downloads of the excess stories will be posted with the Show Notes.
Submissions that do not fit into the guidelines below will not be accepted for this edition.
SUB-EDITOR WANTED
I'm looking for a sub-editor for this edition of EVP. You don't need any extensive technical skills, just time and energy! Essentially the role of the sub-editor is to make my job a little easier - spreading the word about the call for submissions, motivating readers to record stories, possibly chasing up authors and/or potential stories to get permission, a lot of prodding and poking! As I said - no technical skill required (I'll still work on the editing side of things), besides maybe explaining to someone how to upload their file, or pointing them to the
Guide to Contributing.
If you're interested in helping out in this role for this edition, please comment here or email me: evp.podcast@gmail.com.
If you're interested in being a sub-editor for a future edition, go to the
Schedule of themes entry.
FIC
There are no pre-assigned stories for this edition - as long as it fits the theme of Hunts & Creatures, submissions are open.
Stories must be:
- Gen (no slash or NC-17 het)
- Around 10 minutes long (approx 3000 words - feel free to record an excerpt of a longer story)
- Approved for recording by the author.
It's very important that you contact the author prior to recording, even if the author is listed on the
Author's Noticeboard. This is to ensure your time is not wasted by recording a story someone else has already recorded!
If you'd like to record a longer story (no longer than approx 5000 words/under 25 minutes), let me know. I can include it in the supplementary edition instead of the main podcast.
Same goes if there is a story and a sequel, or a couple of chapters of a WIP you would like to read - contact me once you have author approval, we'll see what we can figure out with fic-only supplementary files.
If you have a story in mind (even if you haven't contacted the author yet), please drop a comment here ASAP - I'll edit and use this post as a drafting board to keep potential readers (and authors) up-to-date with stories that have been claimed, stories that fit the theme, etc.
Please remember to read the
Guide to Contributing before submitting material.
NON-FIC/META/INTERVIEW
If you'd like to propose a non-fiction piece for this edition, please do so via email or in the comments!
Non-fic pieces should be about 10 minutes long also. Types of non-fic could be:
- An interview with a relevant author
- A meta piece relevant to the theme
- An information or resource piece (eg. How to research for writing an accurate and effective hunting story/creature)
MUSIC
I'm now taking suggestions for music tracks to include in both the main and supplementary podcasts for each edition. If you can have an appropriate track, please post a comment. I'll ask you to yousendit to me if I don't have it already.
Due to time constraints (I might only use one or two tracks per edition), not all the tracks suggested will necessarily be used.
GRAPHICS
Submissions of banners and buttons for this edition of EVP are also welcome. These graphics will be hosted on EVP's server and offered for listeners and contributors to post on their own sites or blogs.
Buttons should be 100x40 pixels.
Banners should be 250x100 pixels.
All banners and buttons should have the text: EVP 5: Hunts & Creatures (gen) and the url of the community: spnfic-podcast.livejournal.com
All graphics submissions will be used. You can email your submissions to
evp.podcast@gmail.com any time before the closing date.
