Call For Submissions - EVP 4
If you're confused by my timing: yes, submissions for EVP 3 are still open. I am allowing 2 weeks for submissions for each edition; as they are published weekly, there is some overlap. There is one week left for submissions on EVP 3; 2 weeks left for submissions on EVP 4.
Now, to business!
Firstly, Update on EVP 3 Call for Submissions:
In case you missed the memo, I am accepting submissions beyond the stories specified in the call for subs on EVP 3. Excess submissions will go into a supplementary fic-only podcast, or, if there are less than an hour's worth; will be posted as individual tracks available for download from the Show Notes. So please consider submitting a gen story that won a Lawrence Award! mona1347 has volunteered as sub-editor for EVP 3, feel free to contact either her or myself with your queries regarding submissions.
Vox Pops - haven't got enough of these to run with it yet. Of course, the content of EVP is always decided by what you're willing to send me, I just thought Vox Pops would be a cool idea, is all ;) If you're still not sure what they are - know how on TV or radio sometimes when they randomly approach people on the street with a microphone and ask them a question? usually an opinion-oriented one? then they edit them all together so it's like this collection of really short opinion pieces from random people, usually displaying the diversity of opinion in everyday people. I've heard other podcasts do it, and it was pretty cool. You can remain anonymous if you want (though, you'd have to email it to me - i just wouldn't publish your name in the Show Notes).
If that kind of thing sounds at all interesting to you - like, you'd want to hear it! - please please record me a quick 30 second piece and send it over. I mean, cmon, if I made a post that asked questions like this, you'd take 30 seconds to comment with your opinion, yeah?

Secondly, EVP 4 - Lawrence Awards (slash): Call for submissions & contributions
No matter how you feel about fandom awards and their place in fandom politics, in a fandom as tightly-focussed as Supernatural the Lawrence Awards have arguably provided a reasonably accurate representation of our tastes and loves in SPN fanfiction. For the next two editions EVP will be focussing on the stories that came out on top in the Lawrence Awards, interviewing the Best Overall Authors, recording some of the winning stories, and giving you the opportunity to voice your opinion with the Vox Pops.
Submissions close: 3rd September, 2006
Comment to claim items up for adoption.
Items will be struck through as they are adopted and thus become unavailable.
Submissions are open for any story that fits the theme for this edition.
If there are enough stories submitted (additional to those below), a supplementary fic-only edition will be also released. If there are not enough for a full hour, links to individual track downloads of the excess stories will be posted with the Show Notes.
Submissions that do not fit into the guidelines below will not be accepted for this edition.
SUB-EDITOR WANTED
I'm looking for a sub-editor for this edition of EVP. You don't need any extensive technical skills, just time and energy! Essentially the role of the sub-editor is to make my job a little easier - spreading the word about the call for submissions, motivating readers to record stories, possibly chasing up authors and/or potential stories to get permission, a lot of prodding and poking! As I said - no technical skill required (I'll still work on the editing side of things), besides maybe explaining to someone how to upload their file, or pointing them to the Guide to Contributing.

poisontaster cleared out the slash categories of this year's Lawrence Awards, winning Best Overall Slash story for What I Keep and What I Carry; Best Sam (Slash) and First Runner-Up Best Slash Epic for Every Broken Thing (co-written with mona1347); Second Runner-Up Best Dean (slash) for Halo (in Reverse); Best Slash PWP for Like a Hurricane (co-written with mona1347); First Runner-Up Best Slash AU for the Heart 'verse; Best Episode-based Slash story for The Ice is Thin (co-written with mona1347); First Runner-Up best Het PWP for The Way I'm Loving You; and of course - Best Overall Slash Author.
poisontaster's stories cut to the heart; simultaneously unravelling and re-weaving the elements that form the core of the Sam/Dean relationship. She constructs a dynamic that is both infinitely complicated and fraught with risk while at the same time absolute in its simplicity, exploring each facet of both characters and their relationship without straying out of character. The oscillation between hope and despair even in a single 'verse never compromises the author's grasp on the nature of her subjects, managing to convey not only the love the characters have for each other, but the love she, and her readers, have for them also. Prolific and consistently high-quality, poisontaster is clearly a fandom favourite!

Vox Pops are short, spontaneous opinion pieces in response to a topical question. Anyone may submit an audio response to the Vox Pop question. See the Guide to Contributing for more information on exactly how.
EVP 4's Vox Pop: Are the Lawrence Awards results an accurate reflection of fandom tastes?
You may leave your response anonymous if you wish. Depending on the number of Vox Pop submissions, it is possibly that not all responses will be used.
