[As Lucas- along with his dog Boney- stand in the middle of a crowded street somewhere in the city of Splendor- both feeling more alone than they've ever felt before in their lives- the boy's overwhelming desire to have his voice heard by someone, anyone has ended up activating of the strange device he found attached to himself upon waking up in this strange world.]
This... can't be right, can it? Did something go wrong when I pulled the last needle? [He quietly asks his companion, unaware his telepathic thoughts are broadcasting to others that hold a seal.] Our reborn world... I don't want to be in a world where I can't talk to anyone! D-did I do it wrong? Why can't anyone hear m--
[His thoughts are cut short as a passerby regrettably ends up knocking into Lucas. He's frantic now to have someone notice him, so the poor chap now as a teary-eyed boy clinging to his sleeve.]
H-h-hello! Sir, p-please! I... I'm not sure wh-where I'm at. Could you-- oof!! [The man shakes Lucas off his arm before letting him finish and hightails it out of there, not even giving the boy a second (or even a first) glance.
The tears in Lucas' eyes are overflowing now, streams running down both of his cheeks. He sinks to the ground, hugging his knees as a few tearful hiccups escape his throat. Boney is at his side, gently nudging him and offering small whines of condolence to his tearful master.]
