There was so much going on around him. He dared not look around, no. In his hand he flicked a conductor's baton. His catalyst for magic when a book wouldn't suffice. This was an emergency. This was a dangerous threat.
The rumors in the air were what worried him. He would have stayed holed in his room had it not been for the cries and wails that he heard.
It was impossible, wasn't it? That's what he wanted to think. It couldn't be, no no. What could have driven this? This was all too familiar to him, all too fresh, all too memorable.
