He's always the scavenger monster, grabbing his meals and snatching their head off their neck before anyone has the chance to hear the first drop of blood spill on the ground. But not this time. People are too busy helping each other and crying for help themselves.
And even if Cerbos has lost his black bean, there can't be any rules about just being merciful to a dying man, can there?
The dirt crumbs beneath his soles, taking one step at a time before his eyes are directly above the leftovers of a warrior. He crouches. A hand reaches out and fingers curl tightly around the boy's shirt, pulling him up to appreciate the curve of his neck, the last beats of his heart pumping blood, flesh just waiting to be teared open, leaning in to take in one last portion of his scent.
What a mess you've made for yourself, you poor, poor idiot. There's already so much blood on you and all of it is drying up. What a waste. What a waste...]

Cerbos maybe be at the edge of reason, but can stop himself long enough to consider this will not end well for either of them. He could just try to kill Edel... and have a witness to what he really is. That wouldn't be productive in the long run.
The body drops on the floor at his feet. His smile is deceiving and barely discernible, hidden somewhere in the monstrosity that has already deformed Jack's face. You're a lucky one, aren't you, Alex? And here he was hoping to get covered in blood, with or without Splendor's consent...

Cerbos gives him one last look, lamenting with mild irritation. Skin and teeth return to their proper place, out of sight in Jack's perfectly normal face, and he retreats to watch from another shadow.]
