That conversation sounds incriminating, but under what circumstances or in what context were the comments made? It's difficult to see the bigger picture with that detail alone.

It's not my place to speak on it in depth, but Izaya is perpetuating feelings in my friend that were instilled by an abusive upbringing, because he finds them entertaining. It's cruel and unnecessary.

What sort of options are available or feasible for your friend to fend off that bully?

If it were strictly a physical altercation, it would be less of a problem. But the Locals prevent that course of action from being used as a deterrent. That's why I'm hoping this method, which brings Izaya's behaviour into public view, will have more of an effect.

Perhaps you should also help your friend learn how to defend himself against verbal abuse as well, just to cover your bases.

That's... going to be difficult, because of the amount of baggage. But several of my friends are here now, so between all of us, it should be better.
