[ the recording starts off not with Kid's voice, but with Izaya's; snippets of a recorded conversation from here between Izaya and Kid ]

"On the contrary. He, and everyone else here, serve as my entertainment. If you're still unclear, that includes you as well. You may not have been brought here for that reason but your presence here serves me in that manner thus making it true, at least from my own perspective... Something in particular about him bothers me, so I took it upon myself to disturb his peace... Eventually he'll be free to do as he pleases, under the exception that he is rendered too intimidated or forced into a position in which he must abide by my will."

[ after the playback ends, Kid says simply: ]

Unfortunately Splendor has not discriminated as to the types of people it's summoned to this city. If you or someone you care about interacts with Izaya Orihara, please exercise caution around him as he mistakenly believes he can intimidate and exploit people without repercussion.

Black*Star has arrived as well.

Crona, I apologize for sharing part of a conversation regarding you, but it was necessary in order to show people Izaya's true nature. [ pause ] I believe we also need to have a talk regarding your actions.

[ next part directed to all: ]

Despite my initial intention to leave the apartment, I realized that isn't the best course of action. I can better keep an eye on Izaya, for at least part of the day, if I stay. Also, from what we know of the city, it's likely that someone else would get assigned to that apartment if I vacated it, and I won't knowingly put someone else in that position.

Also, do any of you recall a classmate named Fuuka Yamagishi? She's recently arrived here.

[ yes, that's been bugging him a lot; he's usually really good with remembering people ]
