It's nothing much (though through his exploring Eco had at least found one restaurant that was relatively delicious and not so hard on a meager budget in the Alpha District, which was hard because seriously, it is horribly expensive) and honestly, it's to butter up Belca for what he's going to ask

[They say the quieter your voice is, the more people re going to listen, so he tests this; his voice is just a whisper, but the restaurant's pretty quiet aside from idly chatter anyways.]

And back home you were pretty happy to get out of the castle, too. Whatever happened to that?

[It feels like a low blow, but it's not as though Eco isn't right. Belca's fork hand pauses in mid-air, but he doesn't look over.

Then don't be so testy over me arranging things for you to get out more! It's not like I've seen you go out all that much. Especially since I'm trying to get used to being here and making friends.

It won't be so bad! The kid's pretty shy and nervous, so you guys might not talk too much. And he'd pay for the food, coz that's what the guy does on dates.

This is important! No matter where he is, a prince needs allies. What if unsavory folk arrive? It'd be good to have more than a simple bard and an injured ex-captain of the guard. [He did just refer to Orcelito and Kiliko as unsavory, thank you. And luckily, Orhaldi's healing (well, last time he checked), so it isn't necessarily a bad stance.]
