lotsa things have happened in the last few weeks
some important, some not so much
too many to list in a single post
so I'll go over the relevant stuff and call it good.
I am, for the most part, okay
some things in my life are more-than okay
others are somewhat less
overall, it balances out well
and really, I can't ask for more.
- I turned 20 on April 29
and am still getting used to the fact that I'm no longer a teenager
my list of 21 things to do before I turn 21 is under construction.
- I've completed conference work for two of my three classes; all that stands between my good self and summer vacation is a 12-15 page paper analyzing the use of chlorophenoxy herbicide 2,4-D as a defoliant in the Vietnam War and domestically as an agricultural herbicide in the context of Edmund Russell's War and Nature thesis, which states that "control of nature [has] expanded the scale of war, and war has expanded the scale upon which people control nature."
Don't worry - I have no idea what I'm talking about, either.
- despite my abysmal housing lottery number (the lower the number, the better your housing - mine was 398 out of a class of 406), my darling rising junior and senior friends allowed me to petition for a Slonim Woods house with them; assuming I survive my beast-of-a-subject-matter paper, I'll be living in a room of my very own next year.
and, in completely irrelevant news, those confounded boogers at Hot Topic (I may be two decades old, but my vernacular is eternally stuck in the fifth grade) discontinued my longtime blue hair-dye; there was a bit of a panic as I searched for a proper deep blue alternative. Fortunately, I found one - I want to enjoy my ability to have radically-unnatural-when-it-comes-to-human hair colors for as long as possible before I'm cut loose into the real world in a few years.
Summer plans are as follows
School ends on May 11, I'll be departing Sarah Lawrence on May 15.
from there, I'll be headed out to Los Angeles to work and model for a good portion of the summer; making little trips to various locations in California and Oregon (most notably Portland, where I'll be meeting with James Kern to finally get my fractal tattoo sleeve designed) here and there.
sometime in early or mid August, I plan on packing up my things and busing it to the Chicago/Milwaukee area - I need to be at Faire for at least one weekend, visit the ones I hold dear (Traveler, trillium, morrigan, andy, cheryl, damien, anne, mandy, and the rest of you darlings are going to get fifteen-minute hugs; I miss you all so much), get my tattoos touched up, and obtain for myself another piercing.
I think that's it for now
I hope you're all doing well
and I'm sorry I haven't been around
