I made it to the top of the climbing wall today. Yay!! The next route I tried kicked my butt, though. I'm fine with that ... I'll get it next time.
Had a nice weekend ... saw Feist at Ravinia. It was great, but I don't think I'd try to go to another sold-out show up there. It was so crowded. Getting the train up there was equally crazy (though I shouldn't complain too much because crowds work to your advantage on the Metra and you normally don't pay ...). I barely felt like I had enough time to relax at the show before we had to get up to leave ... oh well. It was still a nice experience overall! And proves to me that I'm wise for not even considering going to Lolla ... Instead I'm looking forward to seeing Buddy Guy and the CSO (not at the same time) at Ravinia, both of which should not be as crowded ...
Yelp Chicago inspired me with their prix-fixe promotion to try a nice French restaurant in the city ... Kiki's Bistro. Loved it. Great atmosphere on the outdoor patio, very simple food, amazing flavors, and huge portions too (I got to take home half a steak pommes frites and half a coq au vin.) There are also now some interesting pictures of me eating bread with the Hancock tower coming out of my head.
The medicine for my giant spider bite worked wonders to ease the swelling on my foot. However, I had never been so thirsty in my life. I easily drink 8 glasses of water a day, but while I was on those meds, I was drinking more around 12 and was still parched. And though I'm glad I'm off the meds, I took a walk to the beach on Sunday that gave me about 10 bites on my left leg that are making me wish I had gone against doctor's orders and had saved some meds for right now. It is truly difficult being tasty. I have a welt on the side of my leg about the size of my palm. Maybe I should just stay inside forever :P
Also awesome about last week was going to Ethel's Chocolate Lounge with
sapphirenight and drinking the best mocha of my life. That deserves to be underlined - it was seriously the best. Cannot wait to go back.
Dad and sister are coming to visit this week! Must get cleaning!
