For the fourth of July, instead of blowing up fireworks, I blew up my foot. More specifically, I got a bug bite on my ankle and now my foot has blown up to 1.5 times its normal size. I thought I had cankles before, but now I know that my cankles are minimal compared with what bug venom will do to me. I finally went to a clinic this Sunday afternoon to get some medicine (once I noticed that my toes were starting to look a bit blue from all the swelling ...). I hope the meds work quickly ... but the doctor said it could take up to 4 days to be back to normal. The nurses even recommended that I should start carrying an epipen since my "bug bite sensitivity" is clearly venturing into allergy-land as I age ... oy.
I often have bad luck on July 4th, so a swollen foot is no big surprise to me, especially since the rest of the weekend was so nice ... great weather, fireworks, family time with not-my-family, strawberry picking, outlet shopping ...
I'm kind of bummed because I am supposed to start my climbing safety class tomorrow. I don't know if the swelling will go down enough to make things comfortable enough for me by tomorrow evening. I wouldn't worry about it except for that I'm taking the class with a friend and I really don't want to abandon her on the first day!
My four-day weeks are now official as of this week to make up for the 5 months I was doing my job plus half of someone else's job. Very exciting ... I was hoping to try a bikram yoga studio for my first day off this Friday, but I suppose that will have to depend on the foot. I will definitely be going up to Ravinia to see Feist, though. Can't wait for that ... love her.
Natalie will be happy to know that I've now finished both Twilight and New Moon, and if I can't find an Eclipse to borrow, I'll probably buy it. AND I can't wait for the movie. :) I totally get the Edward love, but a lot of times, I want to smack Bella. I'm going to try to read a "serious" book or two before I head into Eclipse, though. I'm thinking that I will try Persuasion and maybe try to slog through some more Anna Karenina ...
And with that, it's dinner time ... Hope everyone had a nice extended weekend!
