I just deleted the first 1400 words of my space pirate fic. Which, *WAH*, but also *whew*, because man, was it sucking the story's will to live (and mine). Now I'm back at the scene I'd orgininally intended to be the opener, and just need to condense the deleted stuff into one paragraph of background, and then it's just piracy and pillaging all ( Read more... )

Sometimes you just *gotta* edit stuff out. I usually end up keeping it in a separate file. Of course, it never ends up getting used anyway, but apparently there's the need to packrat fic.

I'm not in the Space Pirate challenge, but in an attempt to bond with you, I'm considering painting my Neopets bunny as a pirate. (What? I'm on cold medication.)

Hmmm...I'm pretty sure the only reason I have anything written is *because* of cough syrup. Good stuff. Who knew pirate fic would be so hard to write? Mine is coming along though...if you don't count the distinct lack of say....pirate-ness. :)

I'm sort of whining, and sort of not. I wrote two pirate fics (so I could flit from one to another, depending on my mood. What?). One angsty, one fluff. The fluff one is done, kinda... except the ending, which... eh... I need to slap about a bit. And the angsty one I really, really want to write, but it's just... boring! Gah. Perhaps I need to take a leaf out of your book, as it were, and cut chunks out of it. The whole introduction, for a start. But it's only teeny-tiny as it is - there'll be nothing left. *cries in frustration*
