First things first, and not miscellaneous at all, a happy happy birthday to poohmusings! *liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick* May your year be full of fun, joy and cute shoes.

A trip to Home Despot today to find replacement hardware for the hooks I want to put on our bedroom closet doors (the original hardware was defeated by the hollow closet doors) netted me lots and lots of bulbs/tubers: dahlias, lilies, and gladiolas. More seeds too: alyssum and rock soapwort and maltese cross and painted daises to go with the viola and dahlia and crysanthymum seeds I already planted. I even just drew up a map of all the stuff I've planted so far (22 varieties of plants so far). Dude, I am turning into a giant plant whore, but I will have a fabulous garden someday. This week I'm taking over another corner of the back yard, which I'm going to fill with climbing stuff like sweet peas, cypress vine and moonflowers.

I do need more ideas for stuff that will grow in mostly shade (our Japanese maple shades all but two corners of the backyard, and one of those is slated for an eventual vegetable garden), so if anyone has suggestions, my green thumb is all ears.

MediaWest details sorted out, finally. Con ho! It will be a nice endcap to two weeks of desperately-needed vacationing. The dwinn and I will be going off on some short adventure, and spend the rest of the time taking care of the inevitable home repair stuff (like getting someone to reseal the damn tub, since I have officially given up on the whole mess). But I won't be at work, and oh, after the last few months, that alone is heaven.

I'm going to try and finish the downstairs bathroom during the time off. It's only been almost two years, but I finally bought primer and a quart of the paint color I want, to make sure that is what I want before I get myself all involved and suddenly decide it's atrocious. I did some sanding tonight, and slapped up a patch of the wall with the paint ("Weathered Fossil"), so we'll see if it passes muster when it dries.

Oh, Wormhole Xtreme. Oh, the meta. Oh, the funny. I do love Stargate's moments of cheeky self-awareness.
