Things I am realizing as I get older:
- It's easier to lose hair and harder to lose weight.
- Today's hip-hop sucks, for the most part. I hardly ever listen to Wild 96.3 or Hot 107.9 anymore because I don't think anything they play on there is any good. Of course, when they have the "throwback hour" and play older tunes, I am all about that! Yes, I have become one of those "Music was better back in my day..." guys.
- Children seem to grow up exponentially more quickly than a decade ago. And those people who are still kids in my mind should not be getting married already!
- What is the enduring appeal of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton? It seems like more and more "stars" are celebrities who are famous simply for being famous. I liked Britney's first few tunes, but she's become a complete joke in the past couple years, so why do people want to know what she's up to? I know those kinds of people existed when I was younger, but I don't remember so many of them or this enduring obsession with them that seems to accompany Nicole Richie and the Olsen twins nowadays.
And in other news... my old 1991 Lumina was finally kicking the bucket and it was time to let her go. My power steering went out a couple months ago, then about 3 weeks ago, I guess my muffler went out because it sounded like a jet engine was landing on our driveway! It would cost more to maintain than to purchase another one, and coincidentally, my mechanic had a 1999 Lumina on hand that he was working on and getting ready to sell. So, we ended up making a deal with him and I now have reliable transportation again. Ooh, pretty... *pats vehicle* My parents gave me a loan and are going to designate part of the cost as a birthday present, so that's cool. Now I just need a reliable source of income. *sigh*
