I fenced sabre with
threeweapon last night, which is always a fun challenge, and thought you guys might like to see it. I don't have a whole lot of video footage of me fencing, so I thought I might get some short clips on my digital camera in the coming weeks. In case people are wondering what the short debate in the middle is about, a fencer has to be the first to start an attack and establish "right of way." If one fencer does this, the other fencer must block the blow with a parry, then assert their own right-of-way with a riposte. It sounds a little confusing and it can occasionally be difficult to call the action, but it's pretty fun!
Speaking of whom,
threeweapon will be running for club president and I will be going for VP (as indicated recently in
ftwaynefencers). Jaison has decided to step aside as prez and let someone else try their hand at running things, which I think is a very good thing. He is running against me in the VP race, though, so that should be interesting! I needed a year off to get my head straight and enjoy just being a member, but it would be nice to be a little more involved again. The election is on Sept 15, so wish me luck!
When I went to the doctor yesterday, I wasn't really paying attention when the nurse was weighing me and did a bit of a double-take. It turns out that I weigh under 200 pounds for the first time in, well, years. That's pretty cool, but that's why the lethargy can be even more annoying. I am trying to do the legwork and get in shape, yet I feel like I'm dragging much of the time. I also started a trial run of Ambien last night, in the hopes that it will make my sleep a little more restful. I actually only got about 4 hours and felt "jittery," for lack of a better word, this morning. Still, I feel pretty good so far and I'm doing pretty well mentally. Hopefully, I won't have a "crash" later in the day. Maybe I can actually get some things accomplished this week!
