oh wow amazing. heartwarming. a great read says time magazine.
it really makes your blood boil so I guess heartwarming would be accurate. just, you know, by the way, the mormons have a temple in bogota. it has a gold statue about twice as tall as a human being on top of it. a huge fucking angel. I wish it was in a worse-off part of town so the irony would be more striking but you can still feel it. a golden angel in a city with its fair share of misery. we dont even hide it or anything. every single person that gets invited into the mormon club in colombia is rich as fuck. so I guess they are taking rich people's money which I'm not so much against. but they dont join to "be closer to god." they join because other rich people are in there and they can meet and make business ventures with them much like the scientologists here.
the other protestants moving in on third world countries go for the poor and dejected ones because they are easier prey. the catholic church already went through this. they sold pardons and all sorts of other shit. by now they will simply take what people give and make-do with it. the dupping of people out of their money through religion already happened. it doesn't need to repeat itself. I'm not saying that we are better, I'm saying that we have already learned from a lot of different mistakes. hell, opus dei does very similar shit. but we watch them. we already know what to expect from them. my aunt prayed to God, Mary, Jesus and all the saints so that my cousin wouldn't join opus dei. true story. if religion really is that important to you, dont join one. it will never trully represent you if it comes out of some other person's mind. there's no reason to join one but plenty of reasons to leave one.
I dont know. fuck it. I have reading to do. if you want all of my views on "missions", "missionaries", and the dupping of thousands in latin america just call me up and ask.
