so I haven't done one of these in a while but I just had the pleasure of looking at these two pearls:

holy fucking shit. I can't stand these kids. I can't stand how they are brainwashed by their parents to support a party that stoped giving a fuck about it's real voter base a long time ago. it's how they get elected! no actual economic plans or political plans. every single time it is a social issue that religion has something to do with. gay marriage, abortion, and countless other boogey-men to fear voters into electing them. all of the scaring, of course, paid for by corporations waiting for tax breaks and subsidies. the saddest part of all is that the democrats can't even fucking push them out of office. the last shift in congress wasn't the democrats kicking them out, it was the republicans that kicked themselves out. they FINALLY went over the line and voters reacted. democrats might know how to run a country but they have no fucking idea how to get elected to run said country. they fall for the same shit constantly. they try changing so many things that voters simply tune them out. they need to understand that getting elected and running the country are two different things. but they pussy out and don't fight back at all! the republicans have given them so much to pounce on and drive them out and for some reason it took a number of huge scandals to drive them out whereas it only took one for clinton to go down. the party as a whole is so out of touch with the people it is trying to help that the people dont even realize it. not only that, but both parties are completely fucked yet a 3rd one can't/wont spring up in their place. they both take their voters for granted because their voters follow after them blindly. yes, signing up for a party gets you a say in the primaries, but it also means that your vote is taken for granted. the parties aren't trying to win over the people, they are trying to win over the swing votes. because the rest of the population has already signed up to vote republican or democrat. "when it comes down to it you can change your vote" is not a valid argument because you are basically already telling them what you are going to vote. they know that you can change your vote but they still take it for granted because the chances of registered voters changing their votes en-masse are non-existent. not only are each partie's voters taken for granted, the other partie's voters are taken for granted as well. nobody tries to actually bring both parties together because they instantly assume it wont get them elected. bi-partisanship gets higher in the list of priorities only as it gets higher in the list of priorities of swing voters. swing voters, being non-partisan, end up caring more about other issues than actual political cooperation.

that's about it. depending on how colbert's class goes I might write a rant about education. I reaaaaally dont want to spend his entire core time talking about it.
