With the recent rains (and despite the current cold snap) just about everything in the garden is coming up gangbusters. The last few plants in the front garden have finally shown their first spring shoots, which leaves me hopeful for a strong summer bloom. I've raked half the yard, dragging up as many of the Norweigan Maple seeds that I can in the hopes that the prolific shade tree next door won't strangle the entire lawn. And I've transplanted the rose bush from the back garden to the side in preparation for making the back courtyard into a kid-friendly zone. The transplant didn't go as well as I hoped. I severed the taproot above the burl and then the root ball pretty much collapsed. But I got the rose back into the ground in about 5 minutes and drowned it in compost and water. With luck it will survive my maltreatment and thrive in its new, sunnier location. If not, eh. It came with the house. I'm sure we can always find another one we like better.
Oh, on the gardening front, the Easter Bunny brought me a couple of boxes of wildflower seeds. So just in case the neighbors let their lot go to weeds (again), at least this year they will be pretty weeds.
