Summary: John was always the first to break.
Author's Notes: So yeah, not really sure what this is. I had a prompt based off of the Death Cab for Cutie song, "I will follow you into the dark" and the line "fear is the heart of love" because I like it, and I think it's really true in a lot of aspects, but I'm not sure if I captured that too well here. So let me know what you think. It was supposed to be a drabble, but it's actually 110 words. So sue me.

John would always be the first to break, standing outside on Paul’s doorstep and knocking until his knuckles throbbed. He always swore he meant what he’d said maybe an hour or two before, that he wasn’t going to be sorry and that Paul really was just an egotistical git with nothing but a pretty face.
But John loved Paul, loved him so incredibly hard that he couldn’t lose him, couldn’t let him slip away through his fingers before he even had a chance to grab hold of his heart.
Because as much as John knew he loved Paul, he also knew he wouldn’t make it for a second in this world alone.
