Title: Everything Is Not What It Seems
Pairing: Demi/Selena; minor Joe/Demi and Joe/Taylor, hinted Nick/Selena some Taylor/Selena 'cause I can :P
Rating: T
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these people. If I did... that’d be funny.
Summary: Joe and Demi are going steady, but when Joe starts to notice how unreceptive Demi is, he goes to the only person who can help him-Selena.
A/N: So like, you'll see some Lovez-if you squint you'll see it x) Like I said, all this Joe-centric-ness isn’t gonna be forever. Just for now. Maybe in the next chapter it'll be all... Demi and some Saylor thrown in there xD
Demi's getting more distant and Joe's just getting more worried. He bothers asking Nick and Kevin about it though, but all they give him is a shake of the head and that they were sworn to secrecy.
He knows that his brothers care, but who's to say he doesn’t care more about his own girl?
Of course, if he tried to be “sneaky” and eavesdrop on one of their conversations, he's not sure if Demi's going to trust him ever again. And he's not really willing to risk anything with his relationship with the feisty singer.
So for now, he goes to the only source whose best known for reading Demi like a book.
“And you came here, why?”
“Look, I just need to talk to her, really quick.”
“And what makes you think she wants to talk to you?” Touché. Taylor Swift was right. What makes Joe Jonas think that Selena Gomez would want to talk to him?
“Please, Taylor. If you have to, tell her it's about Demi.” Joe's frustrated, but he doesn’t notice the way that the blonde girl tenses at the mention of his girlfriend. Nor the way that her shoulders sag and her posture looks ultimately defeated.
“Fine,” Taylor sighs, “come in.” She opens the door wider for him to enter, before turning, and heading up the stairs to call the other girl. Joe shut the door, not quite used to being in the Gomez/Teefy household. Thankfully, Selena's parents were away, which meant that Taylor was at the girl’s side 24/7.
Joe's still not quite sure how it happened.
Nor is he quite sure about the strange noises he hears upstairs which are soon followed by light giggles and heavy footsteps.
Joe's standing there awkwardly as he feels himself being totally psychoanalyzed by Selena who still hasn’t moved from the top of the stairs. Taylor's right behind the shorter girl, casting a look over her head to look at Joe shifting from foot to foot.
“Why are you here?”
“Exact same thing I was asking.” Taylor says off handedly as she moves from behind Selena to go down and head into the kitchen.
“Look, Selena, I know we don't really talk but, I need your help.” Selena sighs out loud before descending and moving to sit on the couch.
Joe's tentative about moving, but none the less takes a seat on the arm rest far away from the Latina. His palms are sweaty and he feels like he's literally getting cold feet.
“Help with what?” It's like a one-worded conversation over IM with Selena, Joe thinks.
He wrings his hands together, attempting to calm his building nerves. He's hasn’t spoken to the actress ever since the Send it On shoot, and their Project Green... project.
“It’s Demi.” That was enough to get the other to girl to actually pay attention to the boy. Joe could see that Selena wanted to say something-anything, but she didn't.
“What about her?”
“She's been... distant lately, and I was wondering if maybe you could help me. I mean... I love her-”
Joe had put his head in his hands, so he didn't notice the way that Selena looked away. Or the way that she had to look up and breathe deeply to not let the tears flow. He didn't notice either how Taylor stood there, looking at her girlfriend, seeing her have a mini breakdown and feeling her heartbreak with how Selena still loves Demi.
“Alright, I'll help you. But I am not going to step foot within ten feet of that girl.” Selena's voice was rough and hard, but it didn't stop Joe from grinning madly, and fist pumping, which earned him a questionable raise of the brow from the girl across him.
“Sorry, habit.” He cleared his throat, thinking he’ll clear the weird air as well. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Taylor standing by doorway, leaning against the frame, looking at Selena with eyes full of sadness-and she just looks like she feels like crap.
“Look, Joe,” Selena stands up, moving to the fireplace and making one of the frames face down before Joe could even see it, “I'll help you, I'll promise you that, but right now,” she chances a glance over her shoulder to see Taylor turn around and go back to the kitchen, “I'm kinda of busy.”
Joe doesn’t need any more explanation because he understands. He has no idea how, but he does. So with nothing more than a quick nod at the actress, Joe takes his leave, showing himself out.
“What the hell just happened in there?”
