Sweden 10 - La Tomatina 2007 !!!

Sep 04, 2007 22:06

Probably my last post for this trip.

I planed to crap on about Swedish innovation, but instead I up and fled the country for some Spanish insanity.

I really should be titling these “Europe ##... but whatever”

La Tomatina 2007 !!!

The worlds largest Tomato fight

(I’m not sure why the make a point of stating that its the worlds largest)

After much pushing and shoving I was almost in throwing range.

They don’t muck around with supplying the tomatos. I think about 6 dump trucks. Wikipedia says 115,000 kilograms of tomatoes. [insert sustainability rant here]

Still not quite close enough to the action

I think the estimate was about 40,000 people where here

Getting to the middle now.

Close enough now

My feet

These are the guys from work I went with. And great company it was.

Left to right: Chanuka, Fernando, umesh, me

Front: WTF body part is that?!?!

Back left: Swimmer hat - “The fanatics”

Tomatina attracts a lot of “guiris” (stupid foreigners, basically… ie: us)

This is also about the time my digital camera stoped functioning for some strange unknown reason.
For some really good shots here is a link the the official page

For an even more unknown reason, the camera started working again by the next day.

I spent 5 days in Spain, we all stayed at fernandos place

I totally love this photo…

The girl with green just wondered past.

The girl in orange is Raquel, one of nandos best friends. We parties with many of his friends. So far, nobody parties like the Spanish. We had a few big nights out. This typically consists of a house party until 1, then drinking in a carpark outside the clubs until 3, then party in the club until 7ish. The streets are full of people doing this.

It was at least 38 degrees and humid every day in Valencia. Total killer. Naturally, we spent every day at the beach. This is some ball game they play.

Those splashes in the background are what the Mediterranean people call “waves”

And here we have the famous paella and sangria (or the remainder of it, at least).

Sangria is the best invention in the world…

Spain was … well… odd, or rather very different. My first impression was a little uncomfortable, but now I totally want to go back there.

Oh yeah, and the cities were beautiful and some other stuff over there and, well, I’m sick of photos now, so this is my last, and MOST favouritiest photo for my Spanish trip and my whole trip combined. It really summs it all up I think. Don't you?

See you soon, somewhere in the world.
