First Day(s) of School

The breakdown...

Monday:
• Technology in Second Language Teaching at 1:30 PM. Professor Heather is entertaining and seems like a nice, honest teacher who cares about his students. I look forward to learning a lot in this course and the lab work we will be doing.
• Dance Improvisation at 3:00 PM. We went over the syllabus and introduced ourselves and played a kind of silly and pointless game. I look forward to learning a lot in this class as well, and the fact that we are required to go to 2 art events that are non-dance events. Also, both of my choreographers for the Senior Dance Concert are in this class. :)
• Literature & Film for the Young at 4:30 PM. I have a couple of friends in this class, and the teacher seems cool if not a bit intense. She went off about plagiarism and was QUITE passionate about the subject - a good thing, but like I said, she's kind of intense. Anyway, I look forward to the reading (should be easy) and we will be watching several films in the class as well, which should make it fun.

Tuesday:
• Introduction to Hispanic Literature at 3:00 PM. Professor Blanc. He scared me when I tried taking a class with him before; he mumbles and eats the ends of his words, and seems to ramble on about nonsense that isn't even related to anything we're supposed to be learning. However, today I at least understood about 50% of what he said, which is an improvement, and there were actually a majority of white people in the class for a change, instead of me being one of three white people in a sea of brown Mexicans. Not that I'm racist, lol, but it is comforting to know I won't be the only non-native Spanish speaker in the class. We will all be suffering together. :P Also, the girl next to me told me she wants to form a study group, and she also told me about this cool summer program she did that she's going to do again, and I'm interested in maybe trying it.
• English Grammar & Standard Usage at 4:30 PM. I have Professor Heather for this class as well, and again it was fun. We got into groups and talked about attitudes towards grammar, and it was interesting to see who is more prescriptive about their grammar and who is more descriptive. After my linguistics course last semester, I feel really liberal and descriptive about grammar, which seems to be how Prof. Heather is, so I think I should enjoy this class.

Other than all of that, I will have rehearsals starting up next week for the Senior Dance Concert. I've also kept busy with rock climbing and yoga. I bought a membership at Touchstone Climbing Centers and I went to yoga yesterday and went rock climbing today with some friends. :) I'm really enjoying getting more in shape, and I feel really good about my body right now. I even bought gear for rock climbing and I am going to shop for a yoga mat ASAP. My tummy is looking flat again finally!

Oh and I talked with my dance teacher from last semester today, and she said she put in to change my grade from a B- to an A, it just hasn't quite gone through yet. I am relieved. I figured she'd just lost my papers somewhere. She said she did, and that she is doing a lot of grade changes this semester... sounds like she just got really disorganised, and at least she's fixing it. Yay, this means I got a 3.8 this last semester! And I am already on the Dean's Honor List. :D

Now it's about time for bed. I should get up at a somewhat decent hour tomorrow (i.e. 10:30 or 11) and do some reading before school. Goodnight!

yay, rock climbing, friends, movies, dance, sleep, teachers, spanish, grades, books, yoga, happiness, reading, english nerdiness, school, body
