I'll bring in my acrobats, jugglers and clowns from a thousand and thirty-three faraway towns

Hmm, today was interesting.

I got to school a bit early so I could do my Spanish homework, only to find out the teacher wasn't collecting it, and it was pretty pointless, anyway.

After Spanish, I tried to force-feed myself some Chaucer since we had to read out of Canterbury Tales, and I got a bit of reading done, but this Middle English is pretty thick to try to get through. Thankfully, we just had a lecture and it didn't look like I was the only one who hadn't read. I have to finish it by Thursday, but I think I'm going to find the translation and look at that in conjunction with the original text.

Chicano Community was pretty cool. We have this assignment this semester called "My Corrido", which is pretty much just sharing our life stories with the class, in some creative way. I think I'm going to do a power point presentation and share a bunch of pictures from my life as I grew up. It's interesting to hear about how other people in the class grew up, and I'm glad I'm not the only white person (although there are only a few of us).

I decided last night that I'm not going to do the Federal Work Study job. I was thinking about it, and going to work 7:00 AM till 12:00 PM on Fridays on top of everything else just seems like too much, and I want to have free time as well as homework/study time. I realised that I'd probably be setting myself up for mediocre grades if I did this job I was hired for. I'm embarrassed and sad that I put people through the trouble of fingerprinting, TB testing me and signing papers so I could get this job, but I'd rather back out now before I've even started, so I don't start developing relationships with the kids only to realise it was a mistake. Since this is my first semester here, I think it's a good thing for me to just focus on school, and even though it'd only be like 5 hours a week, it's just a bit much on top of all the activities I have going on with band. So, I e-mailed the professor today and hopefully she gets it and isn't too put out. I also hope I don't have to go through more paperwork to "quit" the job I never started.

Other than that, today I also trimmed my fringe. I actually did my hair to where my fringe was hanging down over my forehead, and it has grown out a bit since the last time I cut it, so it was running into my eyelashes and driving me crazy. So I bought a pair of scissors from the store in the Union and chopped my bangs in the bathroom, haha.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Simone and I were interviewed by someone who writes for the university newspaper. We were asked questions about this pay raise thing that the ASI gave themselves, and I didn't know enough details to talk much about it, and Simone had a lot to say, so I didn't get much in as far as my opinion went. I picked up the paper today, and saw my name and her name as well, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with how they quoted me. You can read the article here:

I just really didn't know enough about it, and I think that's what I wanted to tell the guy, but Simone kept talking and I think he got the idea that I just didn't care. :/ Makes me sad. I don't want people thinking I don't care about things. I merely wasn't informed.

Anywho, on a brighter side, I got a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com in the mail today as a reward after charging so much on my credit card (I have an Amazon.com Visa card), so I was happy to go shopping after school today. I bought this skirt:

I had been eyeing it in Target for awhile before I moved here, and now it will be mine. :D I look forward to going dancing in it!

I think that's about it for now. Only three weeks and Aaron will be here. :)

yay, shopping, aaron, reading, work, friends, disappointment, quotes, spanish, photos, school, haircut
