As gently as I fell, I knew
it wouldn't last long,
for when your heart became renewed,
no one wanted to hear your song.
As silently as I screamed, I heard
your solid footsteps stalking my door,
and just for once, I'd like to be
the one you waited impatiently for.
As loudly as my heart was beating,
something inside me was still,
for I knew even though the water was freezing,
my heart would grow accustomed to the chill.
As tumultuous as your ocean's waves,
my own bemusing thoughts,
come full circle as I now throw
myself into a current's frost
For even though your ice is thicker
than the ocean's depth,
your lack of love will never hinder
mine from breaking through regret.
