thanksgiving

Is it just me, or is the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special vastly inferior to the Halloween and Christmas special?

Last night i prepared my turkey brine, it is chillin in the fridge right now.  I submerge the bird as soon as i get home. My mom never brined a turkey...she said it didn't do anything (a whole lot of effort for very little taste ( Read more... )

Me, I am a fan of the turkey bag. Magic plastic bag in the oven sounds like a bad idea, but I assure you it is not. LOVE IT. Also, one time in the pre-bag era, the skin on my turkey was so nice and water tight that not a single drop of liquid was in the roasting pan. When we took the bird out of the oven and shoved in the thermometer, all of its tightly held juices gushed out at once. Perfect & so very moist meat. Basting is dumb and takes precious beer time:) I support your brining as well. Happy Thansgiving!

we are brining in a bag. technically a turkey goes in bag, bag goes in bucket.

not sure if the oven bag would work with the roasting oven...hmmm.

I'll be interested to hear how the Alton Brown method turns out! Even when it's a food I don't care for, I still totally watch every Good Eats.
