schempp may snicker, but I now I now bear the title "Homeowner". This has been an arduous process. I have intentionally avoided blogging about this because it has sucked me dry.
All last week we were in a tailspin because our lender had a problem with me being a contract employee at Microsoft instead of a full blown internal employee. Never mind that more than 1/3 of the people working in my building alone get paychecks from another company. So, I went back and forth with HR on what they could say about my status. I even had to prove what I was doing from 2004 - 2006 because I had no employment history. The 1098-Ts weren’t enough; I had to get a pic of my diploma from ND.
Regardless of being told at 4:45 last Friday that we were "good" I have been freaking out on the inside. All the while of packing up boxes this week, pulling the guest room apart, pricing new furniture...I have been freaking out. Even yesterday, when I drove down to The Wife's school to sign the final papers so we could close before the end of the month (thus avoiding an additional $1600 needed in earnest money) I was thinking, "sure I will sign this, but we are going to get a call on Friday saying that they can't let us have the house."
Well, just got the e-mail from the realtor. We have a house, we are homeowners. This has happened incredibly fast, new job, new house, we didn’t plan on doing anything this quickly.
I am relieved and thankful that the things I have missed out on for the past month (friends, rehearsal, SFIT) haven’t been in vain.
More than anything am thankfull to have a house that we both genuinely love. I am sure there will be unforseen frustrations down the line, but for here, and for now, all is most right with the universe.
