Nothing unusual

I know we've been ignoring electric cars for over a hundred years now so its not out of the ordinary to read about how GM had an electric hybrid in 1969, but it still broils my brisket...seriously, what is wrong with US?
And they try to unveil their shiny new Hybrid, The VOLT as if it's the shit. They had that technology in 1969 and the ONLY reason why they are dusting it off is because they realize they are getting their asses handed to them.

Does it seem like we're driving faster compared to five years ago? Maybe you notice how much harder it is to get from the on ramp onto the highway? Or maybe you don't because your car's engine is obese. You probably can't even hear your car working or feel the difference between 55 mph and 75 mph.
Well in the Metro, with three cylinders, the difference is obvious. I think it also means a difference in at least 10 miles to the gallon less when I go 75 vs 55. We know we're driving faster because the EPA adjusted how it gets MPG estimates for new cars based on the fact that we all drive faster and use AC.
Can you drive 55 mph for a week? For myself, it's pretty difficult. I am always late for work, but I am trying it because I am pretty sure I'll get 50 MPG. It's not just about getting better mileage/consuming less, it's also about trying to realize WHAT WE DON'T NEED.

Everything our society does is about gaining control.
I like New Hampshire because it has such BLAZING examples of this. There are so many pickup trucks (some with loud-ass train horns), motorcycles sans mufflers, and grandmas driving Hummers. If you drive a F-350 then you must be badass, and oh I didn't realize that your dick was so big until you woke me up last nite when you left the biker bar.

We are completely ridiculous.
