Author's Note : Once again, I'm sorry it took me so long to update. I went on hiatus, but I'm back now. I hope you like the chapter. I really do. Also, I'm pretty much out of posters so you should make me some? Yes, yes.
Chapter Two.
"How could they be late?" Hee Chul asks, looking over Si Won. Si Won is messing around with his glass, not bothering to drink the brown liquid inside. "This is the best restaurant in Korea and they just decided not be on time. They were supposed to be here a half hour ago."
Si Won raises his eyes slightly and says, "But you just not them five minutes ago. Not their fault."
"But it is! They're my superheroes; they should have read my mind." Hee Chul's arms were in the air, waving around. Si Won is so ashamed that he never knows the boy and tries to sink further into his chair.
"You know they're not actually superheroes, right? They're just normal people."
Hee Chul shakes his head and pouts. "That's what you think." Si Won doesn't even try and think of a comeback. They sit in silence for a few minutes before: "Where did Dong Hae go?"
"He went out running with Yun Ho. I think something's going on with the two of them."
"Ohh," Hee Chul says, a smile lighting up his face. "Do you think they're dating?"
Si Won's eyes drop even further down. His face is almost level with the table. He can't wait for anyone else to show up. He can't handle this much Hee Chul all on his own. "No, Chul, you're the only one that would think that."
"You're right. And Dong Hae was flirting with Eun Jung a lot today, wasn't he? I hope he can get a girl. It's about time that one of us has someone."
"I don't get why you don't. You could have any girl you wanted easily. I remember when I first met you, you with a new girl every week, sometimes after just a few days. What happened?"
Hee Chul laughs. He looks over at the boy and all he can see are his eyes. They are looking at him, shinning with a strange kind of intensity that Hee Chul isn't used to. "You happened," he says, amazed at how weak his voice is. Hee Chul hates how afraid he is of the truth - it is a dark, dark thing.
Si Won isn't sure why but he feels his face getting hotter. He's so glad that his face is hidden and grabs for his drink in hopes to cool himself down. He's been stupid and he knows it.
Eun Jung is the first to arrive. She looks scared walking in and Si Won instantly feels bad for her. He's afraid of how Hee Chul is going to act. He's used to the strange boy's antics, but Eun Jung was innocent when it came to Hee Chul and Si Won wanted her to stay that way.
"Oh hey Eun Jung, I'm so glad you're here. I was just about to go out and meet Dong Hae. You want to go out and wait for him with me?" Si Won stands up and began walking towards her. He doesn't care what she has to say, there is no way she is going to be in the room alone with Hee Chul. "He'll be really happy to see you," he adds, grabbing her hand and pulling her out, not even thinking that it's kind of weird to be holding her hand.
It doesn't take them long before they were standing on the street. Si Won has no idea with Dong Hae is actually going to be there, he just hopes that's going to be soon; he doesn't want to seem like a complete creeper. At least, though, he's no longer holding her hand.
"So how do you feel about all of this?" he asks her, looking around for a sign of anyone - it didn't even have to be Dong Hae. What was taking everyone else so long?
"It'll be interesting. I was talking to Ye Eun and Chae Rin today, they seem really nice. Do you know Hyo Yeon well? I've only talked to her about once or twice."
Si Won shakes his head. "She doesn't really do well around boys. Her and Dong Hae are really close, though. They hang out a whole lot, always doing the weirdest stuff. One time I remember she helped teach him this dance that he then used in a dance battle against Eun Hyuk. It was so funny - Eun Hyuk was so mad that Dong Hae had won. Everyone teased Hyuk for weeks."
There is a laugh in his voice that calms down Eun Jung's nerves. She smiles up at him. "She seems great then. I've always been amazed at her dancing skills. I always feel like the worst dancer. Practice is always the worst. Even though I'm normally okay on stage, I fall down so much in practice. It's terrible."
Si Won laughs. "I'm not the best dancer either. I'm okay with letting Eun Hyuk being the best dancer in Super Junior."
"And Hyo Yeon in Hee Chul's Superheroes!" Eun Jung adds.
Si Won opens his mouth to respond, but notices Dong Hae turning the corner, Yu Ho in tow. They are smiling and Dong Hae is yelling something back at his slower companion. When he turns and sees Eun Jung waiting for him (he doesn't even notice Si Won), he smiles real wide and his stomach starts to feel sick - but that good kind that you only get when something good just has to happen.
The two walk inside and start talking about what they've been up to since they were last with each other. Si Won smiles and waits for Yun Ho to arrive.
"Dong Hae sure seems happy," Yun Ho says, breathing heavily. It amazes him how out of shape he feels. Since when was he slower than Dong Hae?
Si Won nods and they walk into the restaurant. "Don't tell me you're going to fall for one of the girls, too. There is only four and so there isn't enough to go around and everything. Plus I heard a rumor about something with you and Tae Yeon?"
Yun Ho laughs. "Nah, that's not true. Tae Yeon and I just talk a lot; it's nice having someone that knows how you feel. Being a leader is hard. As for the girls, we'll just have to see what happens, I guess."
Si Won nods. There isn't a chance that he'll fall for any of the girls. Eun Jung is already taken, Ye Eun seems strange to him, Chae Rin is too gangster for him, and Hyo Yeon doesn't even like boys. If he was gonna have a girl in Hee Chul's Superheroes, he'd just have to settle for Hee Chul.
Finally everyone is there. A huge, round table is set up and everyone still barely has room to fit. Hee Chul demanded that people not sti by people that are in their company. The seating goes like this: Hee Chul, Seung Hyun, Nich Khun, Chae Rin, Hyo Yeon, Joon, Dong Hae, Jo Kwon, Si Won, Ye Eun, Yun Ho, Seung Ho, Jin Ki, and then Eun Jung.
Si Won is pissed that Eun Jung is sitting next to Hee Chul. He whispers to Jin Ki to please talk to her as he walks past to the restroom. Jin Ki nods, afraid to even think of saying no to his hyung, but is almost just as afraid to actually talk to her.
Hee Chul, actually, doesn't say much. He eats and occasionally yells things across the table at Si Won. "When we're married Si Won, it'll be like this, only our kids will be a lot smaller." "Yun Ho, don't you think Si Won and I will make cute kids?" "No I don't care that we're both guys and it's impossible for us to have kids together, Eun Jung." Si Won never responses to anything and does his best to hide under is table even more.
The first thing Chae Rin says to Seung Hyun is that she's sorry she didn't save him a seat - she didn't have a choice. Seung Hyun nods, understanding. It made sense that he should be trying to get to know other people that he didn't know well. But Hee Chul scared him and didn't even seem to want to talk to him. He tired to say a few things to Nich Khun, but neither of them were able to keep the conversation going.
He leans over, about twenty minutes in and whispers something in his ear. The boy nods and leans over and whispers the same thing into Chae Rin's ear, who also nods. Seung Hyun stands up, whispering to Hee Chul that he's going to the bathroom and walks out. Chae Rin leaves a few minutes later with the same excuse. Everyone but Hee Chul is too engrossed in their own conversations to notice.
They meet right outside the bathroom doors and just smile at each other for a few minutes. "I guess Ji Yong is the one that put me up to this. It's crazy, but I'm kind of glad he did. It'll be cool, right?"
Chae Rin laughs. "That sounds like Ji Yong Oppa. Of course it'll be fun. And if it's not, we'll leave and form our own two man group."
Seung Hyun likes the sound of it and let's his smile widen a bit more. "Sorry to, like, force you out of the seats, but it was just awkward. I had no one to talk to and I just had been looking forward to sitting next to you."
"I was, too. I was hoping we could catch up. It's been awhile." Seung Hyun nods and silence lies there for a few moments.
"Let's catch up sometime then, okay? Without Nich Khun between us."
"Sounds like a plan. I'd really like if we should not have Hee Chul next to you either."
"I'm okay with that as well."
Joon keeps talking to Hyo Yeon and he doesn't fully understand why she isn't talking back. Any other girl in the whole world would talk to him in a second. Why wasn't she? He didn't understand it in the slightest and it bothered him so much.
He turns to Dong Hae thirteen and half minutes in and says, "What's her problem?"
Dong Hae's eyes tighten into a small glare. "Hyo's? She doesn't have one, Joon. She just obviously doesn't like you, okay?" Dong Hae rolls his eyes and smiles over at his friend. He wishes he could sit next to her and could tell her about everything that's been going on with him and Eun Jung.
"Why not?" Joon knows he sounds so full of himself, but he doesn't care. "Just... she doesn't even know me and I don't get why she can just not like me. I never did anything to her."
Dong Hae sighs and looks up, making sure Hyo Yeon isn't listening. She's saying something to Chae Rin, both of them with smiles on their faces. Dong Hae drops his eyes and whispers, "She doesn't like boys. I'm the only guy she's ever really gotten along with. Even when she was in China with Si Won it was the same. She's kind of afraid of them, really."
"Afraid?" Joon asks. "Of boys?" He tries not to laugh, despite how funny he finds it. What twenty year old girl was afraid of boys?
"I know it seems weird, but she didn't grow up with any good man figures. Boys used to make fun of her at school. Just don't mention this to her. It'd probably be better if you just didn't talk to her."
Joon nods. Bullying is something he never had to understand, something he never experienced. It seems like a terrible thing and he can tell that it had the ability to change a person. He lets the subject drop, but turns to Hyo Yeon (who is no longer talking to Chae Rin) and says, "You look nice today. I've always loved your dancing. Maybe you could teach me some of your moves."
Hyo Yeon's eyes and sharp as she looks at him. "Since we're in the same group there's a good chance we'll end up dancing together some time or another."
"Sure, but I'd like to have some time with just you. It'll be hard with all the other members trying to learn from you as well." Hyo Yeon sighs, not sure what to say. She doesn't want to seem mean or rude, but she definitely doesn't want to spend any time with him either.
"If Dong Hae can watch. He says he likes watching me teach people how to dance. I don't get it, but whatever."
Joon agrees, even though he would much rather it be just the two of them. But he is in no position to argue, so he just smiles and lets her be.
Jo Kwon tires to talk to Si Won a few times, but can tell that the boy isn't in the mood to talk. He looks over at Dong Hae, who doesn't seem to want to talk either. He's glaring at Jin Ki and then back at Joon. Jo Kwon quickly decides that all men in Super Junior each have some kind of mental disease.
So, mostly, he watches Nich Khun as he eat. When he's caught, Jo Kwon just smiles and is surprised when Nich Khun smiles back. They start mouthing things to each other, mostly just random words that mean nothing at all.
Jo Kwon's heart leaps when Nich Khun mouths, "Olive juice," because it looks like "I love you" in English. It takes him a few moments before he decides that there's no way that's what Nich Khun had just said, although he's not exactly sure what had been said.
He likes the thought, though, and plays the scene over and over in his mind as he continues to mouth things to Nich Khun. They're both smiling whenever they're not the one "talking". Jo Kwon doesn't pay much more attention to what is being pay, only things over the one thing that was almost said and how badly he wants it to be true and how hard he's going to work to make it so.
Ye Eun doesn't know much about Si Won or Yun Ho, so she doesn't say too much to either. Yun Ho, however, tries to talk to her. He has a big smile and hair that she's always (secretly) wanted to run her fingers through. Yun Ho tries as well to get Seung Ho in the conversation as well.
The three talk about almost nothing at all. The topics bounce from sports (Ye Eun likes football and volleyball, Yun Ho likes running, and Seung Ho likes doing anything as long as he's not with Joon (who always makes sure not to have a shirt on)) to movies (Yun Ho likes scary movies; Seung Ho offers to hold Ye Eun's hand next time she goes to a scary one) to books (Yun Ho is the only of the three that's read Twilight (which he hated) and Seung Ho's the only one to have read Harry Potter (which he loved and wished he could marry Hermione)).
When they reach the subject of dating, they each announce that their single. "I kind of like someone, though," Yun Ho admits quietly. He doesn't want Si Won to hear.
"Oh!" Ye Eun exclaims with a grin. "Who is it? Is it someone here?"
"Not telling. And I am not going to tell you if it's someone here. Since there's only four it wouldn't be hard to work out if it was."
"At least tell me if it's me!" She's all smiles now. Ye Eun loves talking about boys and dating and stuff like that.
Yun Ho laughs. "No, it's not. No offense."
"None taken." She looks over at Seung Ho, who is suddenly playing with the food on his plate. "What about you, Seung Ho?" she asks, her voice so perky.
"I like girls," is the only thing he admitted to. Ye Eun is sure that both of them like someone that is in the group and neither wants to be man enough to admit. So, she decides with a smile and a glance around the table, she would just have to find out.
Jin Ki does his best to talk to Eun Jung, but it's hard. He's never had much experience with girls. He only really knows his SNSD girls. Him and Jessica get along well and he loves hanging out with her. But Eun Jung seems so different.
"I have a theory." Jin Ki is surprised when she speaks and looks over at him. He looks back, noticing how pretty she is. He loves her hair and her eyes. He loves that she's not wearing a smile, but it's not a frown neither. She looks natural, calm, and he likes that.
"What is it?"
"Well, what's going to happen is we're all going to actually become superheroes except Hee Chul and we'll just have to do all of his bidding. Like, get him drinks and stuff. And then he'll have us marry off and have us have his kids for him and Si Won."
Jin Ki's eyes are wide. The idea is so strange, but he finds himself laughing. "The sad thing is, I can totally see that. I really hope you're not right."
"Oh, me too. I've been trying to decide who would marry who. Since there's only four girls, it's kind of hard. Do you have any ideas?"
"I think Seung Hyun and Chae Rin. They'll have little gangster babies."
Eun Jung laughs. "Yes, definitely. And then maybe Ye Eun and Nich Khun? They'd be really cute together. Or her with Joon? That would be cute, too."
"I like the idea of Nich Khun, but I was also thinking Jo Kwon. Someone has to be with him so Hee Chul can have pretty boys and I think he works best with her."
Eun Jung beams, her arms in the air. "You're completely right. Wow, Jin Ki, you're so smart."
Jin Ki's face lights up and blush grows on his cheeks. "Thank you."
"And then Hyo Yeon with Joon then? I don't know what it is but I have a feeling they would work really well together."
"Really?" Jin Ki asks, looking over at the two in question. "I think Hyo Yeon would kill him."
Eun Jung laughs, loud. "Hm, well, you know her better than I do. Yun Ho?"
"That I could see. That'd be great, actually, for sure. Hee Chul would approve."
"And then there's me. Who do you think Hee Chul would force me to marry?"
Jin Ki thinks for awhile. He doesn't seem to think she would really work with anyone well. Definitely not Joon or Seung Ho. "I could see you with Nich Khun; you'd make really cute kids."
"All right. Then I'll marry Nich Khun." Eun Jung grins, surprised at the choice of boy. Part of her could see it, but it wouldn't have been her choice. She looks around the room and sees Dong Hae smiling at her. That would have been her choice. She smiles back and then turns her attention to Jin Ki.
He's smiling, too, more to himself than Eun Jung. He reaches for his glass and Eun Jung finds herself just watching him and she's not sure why. But the more she thinks about it, she wouldn't mind being forced to marry Jin Ki either.
